antipodean audio

Still looks good, David. Meant to ask how the spindle bearings on your GT were. Any detectable play when moving, or gently twisting, the tonearm?

Buddy I'll have a look when I get home but do you mind explaining further as to what I'm supposed to observe?

I believe the reference was to the bearings in the gimble at the base of the tonearm. There should be as near to imperceptible play in them as possible, without being so tight they are not free to move.

You note the Celestions are a bit bright; could this be again aging crossover components? I'm not very familiar with how these were voiced when new.

Mine looks v stable without any movement fortunately. Wonder if some GT units have such symptoms?

That's possible. But at this stage I have no motivation to do anything about it lol

Nice rig! Good photography too.

Thanks man :thmbsp:

Thanks guys.

I've just swapped the ICs between the one for the Nano (QED Performance Audio 1) and another for Sony SACDP (Morrow Audio MA1). I think I like the Morrow better on the Nano.
Perhaps I'm hearing things but everything sounds just slightly better with the Morrow between the Nano and the MF.

David, it all looks gorgeous!
Love your main set up the most though. Elegant and still looks like classic Hi Fi.
Cheers.
Craig.

Thanks guys. Craig, I mostly listen to my main setup when I'm home anyway.

One of the biggest SQ improvement was obtained through having the speakers as far as possible from the wall, that and careful toe-in.

Nice David: could you tell us your impressions about this new pre? On the internet it looks like a serious unit with a convenient price tag!
