Any Bedini Owners?

Are there any other Bedini owners on here? I own a couple (25/25 and a "Audio Gold by Bedini" 200/200) and have found it hard to find other Bedini owners and info on Bedini equipment in general. The only time I really see the name is on forum posts when someone says that they used to own one back in the day, usually in the replies to another post. Which is a shame because i think they're great amps for the money you can get them for.

If you've got (or had) a Bedini and are reading this thread (and feeling up to it), reply with which one you have or had. Also if you ever compared them to other brands feel free to share your thoughts, I haven't really had the opportunity to compare them.

Also: if you use Facebook, I created a group on there called Bedini Owners Group, so if you'd like you can search it up on there and join. Hopefully it will be a group to post about Bedini equipment etc. So far there's only four members, though. I have started uploading spec sheets and other things I have found about them to the group.

I've seen the 25/25 on many 'best amp for Quads' lists and would love to try one, but haven't ever seen one, not that I've looked. Kind of wondering what they go for.

Yea prices on Bedinis tend to be all over the place, Hifi Shark will tell you what they've gone for in the past. You have to be careful when you find one to make sure its not heat damaged on the inside, they run pretty hot so if you don't give it room to breath things will break over time.

There were two 25/25s: the regular one and the 1 MEG (mine's just the regular one); the 1 MEG was the souped up version and was stable down to 1ohm.
Here's a website I believe John Bedini made it or someone at his company, and if you scroll down and click 'Next Page' you can see where he talks about the 25/25. He talks about a lot of his amps there pretty interesting read.

I have a 6677 preamp. It's 2 complete Mono preamps bolted to one big ugly faceplate. Dual-Mono all the way: separate power supplies, power cords, power switches — and annoying separate volume controls. But oh the sound was so pure!

Haven't used it in ages but still have it. Wonder if it still works?

I've also got a 6677! However, mine is the wrong color. They made amps and preamps in silver and black (the amps had a few more finish colors at one point I think) and I ended up with a silver amp and a black preamp lol. I still use it pretty often, I only really switch it out when I want to use my other Pre-amp that can be controlled with a remote. Or I switch it out when it's beginning to become an eyesore (like you said it's not pretty). It's also got three sets of Pre Outs which is nice for subwoofers or bi-amping (or both), my other preamp only has two sets. I think they were made to complement the Bedini amps because they both invert absolute polarity(read that from John Bedini somewhere online).
 
listened and touched one at my techs place ,Bedini 25 25 Class A .
(Gatineau,Quebec,Canada) a few years ago.
 
I have a Bedini/Strelioff Model 200/200. It is quite a beast. Very dynamic amplifier, though it does have a slight hum that is audible at very low volume. The amp is mentioned by Mr. Bedini in the link in post #4 above.

The Bedini-Strelioff models were monsters;; I've got an old advertisement saved somewhere that I came across that talks about how overbuilt their power supply sections were, I'll try and find it and see if I can upload it here. I can't find much about my "Audio Gold by Bedini" 200/200 online; I wonder if it shares any design with the Bedini/Strelioff models, as I think they're from the same era. If I figure out how I'll post some photos of it and the insides.

I've had a 45/45 for over 10 yrs. It sounds great and has never given me any problems. It's a back up amp that doesn't get used that often but can't seem to part with it. Just yesterday I fired it up with a Marantz 7t pre into some 'new' JBL 100's at the speaker end... surprised how good it all sounded as I'm a tube lover. "They" are all on again today.

Thanks for sharing that. The ad is correct when it talks about how large the filter capacitors are. They are about as big as a 24 ounce beer can.

And the modules used for the two channels are pretty neat, but make it impossible to take measurements with the amp on, unless you have a jumper cable to connect the removed module to the amp.

Here's some photos of the Audio Gold one, the caps in it are about 3" diameter x 4.5" tall, 33000uF 100V according to the label. It's got a fan on the back that works very well, it barely gets warm even when using it for hours at a time. Sorry about the mess of cables in the first photo, that's from the preamp. You kind of make out the "Audio Gold by Bedini" script on the back, tried my best to get a photo it.

Somewhere on AK there is a long thread by someone who picked up a half assembled Bedini at an estate sale and restored it. As I recall a lot of people weighed in with knowledge of Bedini lore, maybe some resources too.

I've never had or listened to a tube amp but a lot of people who like tubes and have listened to Bedinis seem to enjoy them. Even more-so with the lower powered ones like the 45/45 and 25

I well known tube amp manufacturer shared with me, "The smaller Bedini amps are the only SS amps I like. It's especially good with my Quad 57's."

Pictures or it didn't happen... I just move the cables up or down depending on mood. Sometimes switch in a different pre.
