I was just made aware that there will be a tenth anniversary Firefly special airing in November - on the Science Channel. New footage, interviews...sounds shiny!

I've heard there may be future internet episodes with some of the original cast and new scripts (insider info from my Comicon contact).

I'm a bit surprised that a second movie was never produced. While the box office take was only at the break-even point, Universal said they were quite satisfied with the profit when DVD sales were factored in.

I'll take what I can get at this point! Joss Whedon has built himself some credibility now. If he wants to revisit Firefly, he will.

I don't know that you can call Alan Tudyk "busy", but at least he's working...and not exactly covering himself with glory in "Suburgatory".

And Summer Glau has been in, what is it, at least two failed series...or at least cancelled. Jewel Staite popped up in an episode of "Dead Like Me" a few years back, but I don't recall seeing her since.

Morena Baccarin, on the other hand, is everybody's favorite lizard...

Anyway ... IMHO, the series has good possibilities for an encore season or two ... I can see River and the Doc all growed up with General Reynolds of the Independent Coalition pulling their strings as they beat the Alliance back into submission with a new fleet of killer Firefly's designed by Kaylee. Jayne of course turned coat and is killed off in the first episode by his own team. The Assassin from Serenity is now of course a good guy and figures prominently in the series as, what else, an assassin Browncoat ...

I still get chills listening to that ... AND I DON'T KNOW WHY!!

Jewel had a steady job in the "Stargate" franchise for a while. I know I've seen her more recently, but for the life of me I can't remember where, and I'm too lazy to look up her IMDB page.

I missed the series when it was on. Loved the movie.
My son "discovered" the series on NetFlix and we spent the first week he was back from college watching it this year. I think he will be over the moon when he hears this news.

The science fiction channel had a Firefly marathon a couple of weeks back. I never watched the show but I wish I had.
