Any insight as to Mirage speakers?

Agree with "carnival" Mirage Om-10's have an amazing silky sweet high end. Pianos, acoustic music, New Age, Classical sound phenomenal. Really finnicky in where and how they are placed. Be patient, use spikes or granite/marble base, and bi-wire them with quality cables. Better the components from the source to amp/preamp, interconnects....almost every item you upgrade you WILL notice it with the OM-10's. They are a little light on the bottom end, I use a music quality sub to fill in the bottom end, but can sound pretty amazing without a sub, if you are not a big bass person.

A pair was given to me a few years ago by the original owner. Don't remember the model, but they were almost 12" square and maybe 3 1/2 feet high. He paid $600 for them when new. I thought they very muddy and really lacked any kind of detail Ended up giving them to the first person that would take them. The only power they ever saw was from a very small Denon receiver, so I doubt that any of the elements were blown. Just my 2¢ worth.

I have the OM10s sound really good driven with a Panasonic SA-XR57 HTR amp and biwired. Curious how the OM10s would sound compared to some JBL L100's / 4311?
 
I just got a call from my ma, she was at a thrift store. She found a set of Mirage speakers. SHe doesn't know the model.
They are supposed to be about 8" square and three to four feet tall. EX+ condition.
That is all I know for now. I'll get more info later today.

ANy possible guess as to the models? I know that is like asking you folks what color car I drive.

I bought a pair of 360s for "get-by" speakers while my tower audiophile system was in transit and storage and while they sounded OK at first, these things actually 'broke in' with use and turned into quite the little cheerful overachievers. I used them on a mod'ed Heathkit AA-151 integrated for a few years and they always sounded wonderful. Loaned them out and the surrounds eventually went. Need to get them back and rebuild them.
 
I have a pretty much mint pair of the OM-6 variety. If I'm not mistaken, they were Mirage's top of the line around 2000 or so. The design is a bipolar tweeter and mid stack set atop a subwoofer cabinet with a built-in amplifier and two 8" side firing woofers. These things are capable of pretty good sound, but they're gathering dust right now. Part of the reason for that is that I had a hell of a time getting the amplified subs to integrate with the rest of my system. The real reason, though, is probably that I moved them out before I backslid into the heresy of the graphic equalizer. With a bit of EQ, I'll bet those things would sound quite nice.
