any jeep people here?

Prices on wagoneers around here have went up a fair bit. Even rusted ones can go for a good buck just for parts.
 
1st Jeep was a CJ7. Iron Duke inline 4 and that POS Peugeot tranny. Second was a '47 Willys w/Sears catalog aluminum hardtop kit.

Current status: "just looking".

I like Jeeps. I bought a brand new 2000 Cherokee Sport when I graduated college - first big purchase. It is still in the driveway, with only 130k on it.

I leased a Buick a couple years ago as a daily work commuter (only) that was smoother, quieter and more comfortable for the 45 minute commute. Jeep was weekend truck. Now I work 10 minutes from home. When the Buick lease is up this summer, I will be Jeeping full time again.

Speaking of Jeeps, today I saw something I don't think I have seen before: a Jeep Wrangler with a snow plow on the front and one of those trailer-hitch "shelf" thingys on the back, loaded with two snowblowers, shovels, and gas cans.

A guy I used to work with had a plow on his Jeep. It was off of a 3/4 or 1-ton. The plow, plus all the angle iron he welded up, really weighed the front end down. He had to install shocks with helper springs to have any suspension travel left. I chuckled every time I walked by his Jeep.
 
I would have one again in a heartbeat, scenario allowing.

They make for a lousy highway driver: Ride. Room. Mileage. That said, I would love one of the 2004-2006 Wrangler Unlimiteds in the factory Rubicon package. The longer wheelbase without the rear doors. That has all the off-road stuff I would probably need already in place.
 
many years ago a friends father had, iirc, a '49 willys, a predecessor to the jeep.
he died and i have no idea what happened to the willys.

Count me in as a Wagoneer fan. We have 3 at work. Use them for driving to tower sites for maintenance. First is a white 1969 Wagoneer with automatic, Power Steering and Brakes and hand controls. It also is equipped with low running boards and pull up bars over the doors. It's an old 6 cylinder early AMC built. We also have a 1972 and a 1977 with V8 engines and luxury options. And a parts mule. White has ClbFeet vanity plate. Every one of the three owners who owned it lived in the mountains and had bad clubfeet. Love old Jeeps! And the newer Grand Cherokees are swell!
 
My good buddy just learned what the Chrysler jeep's are about the other day, just sunk 9k into a beat up grand cherokee... dumbass! lol now I tell him JEEP Just. Empty. Every. Pocket. And that's what he did, and I'm sure something else will take a dive, it's old after all, and wasn' taken care of I doubt.
 
I bought an '01 60th anniversary Wrangler a couple years ago to be my winter snow pusher. I installed a 7 1/2 ft blade on it and absulotely love it for this purpose. I can run circles around the big bladed pickups. I only push snow for my 1/4 mile lane to the house and for the parking area of our greenhouse business. Other than that, I occasionally take the top off and run around on the nice summer days with it, but the bad gas mileage keeps me from using it much as a daily driver.
 
Love jeeps, always have, always will. My first car was a '76 Waggy, now I have an '87 Grand Waggy with a four inch lift. My dad has a '99 Wrangler, and my mom an '04 Grand Cherokee. Since I was born in '92, I think the number is up to around 15 jeeps we've gone through, from J10's to Wagoneers to Cherokees!
 
1 year, 3 months and 41,000 miles later, still lovin it, nothin but fun.

I highly recommend NFS 2056 in the Superior National Forest off Echo Trail. That's where I rolled 40K last month, can't wait to go back this fall.
 
Traded in my 2000 Cherokee for a 2010 Commander, loaded.

Very few vehicles other than a hummer will plow through our northwest PA blizzards like a Jeep.

I had a 1995 Wrangler Sahara edition lifted a few inches with about everything you could put on it from runners, hard and bikini top, remote start, bridged amp sound system............too much to list.
I had it 6 years and loved it but too rough to drive with my disability now but man while I had it she was a BLAST
 
I have a 2005 Jeep Rubicon modified. 6" lift, 2" body lift, air lockers front and rear, chrome shafts, short shaft sye, belly up conversion, onboard air, cold air intake, 36" swampers, body protection, ect....
 
Playing on a rock hehe. I've got a few of the truck completely flexed out, its amazing what a Jeep out of the box with a few mods can do. Of course mine has been slightly modified, but I like to go places :)

I had a Jeep Cherokee "Chief" 4x4. 'Bought it new in 1984. 4 cyl engine - I think it was called a Hurricane. It had about 250k on it when I donated it to charity a few years ago. Served me well on numerous trips out west - Big Bend, Grand Canyon, Colorado Rockies, Organ Pipe, Valley of the Gods, etc. - took me way outback to places I'll probably never see again. The carburetor was a joke but everything else seemed well thought out and of at least decent quality.

If the ole back ever gets better, it would be fun to get out off the beaten track again. Though I don't think the "all wheel drive" Element is going to be able to handle even half of the trails that the Jeep took with gusto.
