Any Ohm Walsh fans? - question

I guess the cardboard I bought is to light/thin. And the bubble wrap is also to thin as is the foam.
So he is going to drop off some thicker bubble wrap and some foam that is used for insulation. And I am going back to Home Depot for some cardboard......

Get the bubble wrap with the bigger bubble, I believe 1" diameter bubble or so. I bought a roll from Lowe's for $24.95 I believe. The general consensus is to pack it so that it can survive a fall from 3'-4' (i.e. the conveyor belt.)
 
Dont mean to impose on your thread but while we are talking about ohm speakers. I figured i would ask a quick question in here rather than start another thread. Has anyone heard of the sound cylinder line of speakers? How do they sound? Would a set in good condition be worth 200.00?
 
Sent my ohm 4 drivers to John today for the woofer service. I'm very excited!! really hope he honors his above offer, shipping these was only slightly less painful then a kick in the nuts. doesnt help that the lady working the desk was an idiot.
 
John did indeed honor his offer. got my ohm drivers back today, 4/25 (over a month), and there is rattling in the right speaker. Sent him an email, we'll see what happens. It must have been damaged in shipping, as I'm sure he wouldnt sent it back rattling. something is bouncing around in there. This especially sucks because he matched them. If I have to send one back, they may be unmatched. what a pain.
 
Shame. I'm sure you will get it figured out in due time.

A rattling, huh? Is it a buzz as a certain freq. range or literally if you shake the 'can', something inside is loose?

I can shake the can, and theres something in there. basically sounds the same as is did when I sent it in to get it fixed. when i sent it in, the surrounds were disintegrated and flopping around in pieces inside the cans. I guess its not as bad as all that. but there's something in there clearly.
 
+1 for ohm customer service. I email john, and got a note from him the next day that he set up UPS to pick up the drivers the following afternoon..

ups just picked them up. Hoping everything goes well.
 
I bought some top hats from Ohm and they were packed the way we AK'ers like things to be packed. That isn't cheap in itself, nevermind the work involved. They came with free donuts for the port in the bottom too. This is a few years back, but I will never forget the attention to detail, which is rare today and is worth the extra $$.
