Any other legal Concealed Carry members here ?

Outrageous. What other rights do you have to give up for a drug they tell us is as safe as alcohol? What other prescription drugs have that same requirement? I'd be raising hell.

I suggest you review the Gun Control Act and any additional stipulations that may be imposed by application for and acceptance of a carry permit, and/or the local laws applicable to carrying where a permit is not specifically required.

I'm certain you will find they all contain verbiage about being under the influence and/or user of controlled substances.

I am well aware of that. I was responding to Dirk's post about having to sell his weapons to get access to medical marijuana. Not to carry while under the influence.

I live in NYC where only criminals are allowed to have guns. To get a carry license you have to demonstrate that your life is under threat, i.e. a jewelry or liquor store owner or that you are a public figure. Heck carrying a knife with a blade of more than 3 inches can get you arrested.

Yeah, that's unfortunate. While not as easy as some locations, Minnesota is a shall-issue state. So, there has to be a concrete/legal reason that specifically disqualifies you to reject your carry permit application, not just the whim of the authority.

In MN it is not a "concealed carry" permit, it is "carry" permit. It is up to you whether you open carry or conceal, but (other than hunting with open carry or on your private property) you need the permit either way.

The sole reason I find it necessary to have a firearm for personal and home defense is that fellow countrymen who have known established demonstrated issues with responsibility, stability, and trustworthiness who, by common sense if not law, shouldn't have access to them, nonetheless have free unlimited access to them to do whatever they will with them.

I will never give up my weapons for weed. Keep your gun and grow your own.
I do, I gave 23 pounds away two years ago. Bumper crop, I gifted 1/2 pounds to folks whom had a legit need. Truthfully the gift is in the giving.

It was my honor to help those who didn't have a dime to spend on meds, or a clue how to grow. I think I've mentioned I'm a retired police officer. I had become friends over the years with some very high end growers, " don't laugh" all straight up good people.

When they got word I wanted to learn to grow,,they showed up at my house with soils and tools and starters. I'm greatful for the lessons, it's a gift I've been able to share with the less fortunate.

I hate that mj laws are so tied together with firearms laws. I rent a storefront out to a dispensary. Local laws require my ID get scanned and recorded every time I enter my own property. I've never bought a single thing from my tenants, but I've had to leave a record of being there multiple times because I had to gauge what type of contractor I need to call to make maintenance repairs.

I live in a Constitutional Carry State where you can legally carry concealed or open carry if you can legally own a firearm. Before this was passed, I took the CC class, but didn't pay the $100 to get a license.I try very hard to be a responsible gun owner.
