Anybody NOT like colored vinyl?

I, for one, do not.
I mean, it's pretty and nifty and cool and such but what I don't like is that you can't see the dust, smudges, fingerprints, grime, etc.
With normal black vinyl or very dark translucent vinyl all those things are easily seen and rectified.
I always feel like I'm flying blind with colored vinyl; even with needle drops I can't really tell where the grooves are.

I had these yellow vinyl records as a kid in the early 60's.

LOL, you guys are too anal lol ;)

If you clean the records and follow your normal listening routing they should be dust free.

I always spin the Audioquest carbon fiber brush on the record before each side play and before I put them away.

Stop worrying and enjoy them!!!

And mine all sound just as good and black vinyl, some better especially the clear ones.

I tend to be traditional so black is my preference, but when given the choice now I go for the colored vinyl. The colored releases go up in value much more quickly. I don't base it on sound quality, but rather young people and their wanting something that they think is more cool.
 
Granted, the collectability of limited edition colored vinyl/splatter wax of yore is a separate issue, and one I have exquisite examples of for sure, but for practicability's sake black/dark vinyl is much easier to work with and usually sounds better. I do love the UHQR clear vinyl but that goes without saying. I'm really talking about the current trend of the proliferation of pink, red, purple, yellow, blue, green, etc. non-translucent vinyl pressings. They just don't seem all that special anymore and I actually try to avoid those. There was a thread awhile back about the quality of various colored/special vinyl formulations. I'll have to find that and link it here.
 
Doesn’t bother me. I clean em and spin em. A few of my favorites are on colored vinyl. More of my faves are black. Makes me no difference.
 
My recollection from the '70s in my high school days was that colored vinyl and/or picture disc LPs were supposedly softer than black vinyl and not worth buying except for the collectibility factor.

That may have been a false rumor at the time but it stuck with me. I've always considered it true right up until this thread made me give it a second thought.
 
Love colored vinyl. I agree it can be difficult sometimes to "see" dust and debris but after a US bath and pre-dusting before play I generally have no issues. Totally agree on pictures disks. Haven't met one yet that sounds good. More for eye candy and hanging in frames.
