Anybody Try The Hockey Puck As A Record Clamp/ Results?

Don't forget to freeze them before play. A bouncy puck on your tt could cost you a game! Also..Canadian pucks are better. With a European puck there is always the chance you may spread the dreaded 'Dutch Hockey Puck disease'.
Canadian hockey puck trees were nearly decimated in the early 70's before import restrictions were in place.:nono:

The question I have is: will a Maple Leafs puck cause more sound loss than a Habs puck? Or does a Leafs puck only work on pre-1967 pressings (or Tragically Hip albums)? Is there any point at all to using a Canucks or Senators puck?

Anyway, even with the hole centered, the edge of the record still wobbles. Same thing when I stuck 6 felt pads under the puck and having them contact the LP... Maybe it's the LP, I'll change one and see.
Don't think I can use a record ring, that Grado cart sure rides real low...

A clamp-stabilizer won't do a whole lot to flatten the outer edge as you've noticed. Sometimes if the record is bowled or convex in the center and the clamp presses the center down it will help, but flip it over to play the other side it will be concave, and the outer edge might not even touch in places. But on those the clamp will help keep the record from slipping especially if it's mostly only touching the mat in the center.

Although, I'm an Oilers fan so I don't have anything to laugh about, really. I think if I used an Oilers puck I'd drill it upside down.

I think I'd like to try this, I'm sure I've got a few extra puck kicking around.

So I should use a combo of clamp + ring? Unlike the puclamp (puck-clamp), that ring I cannot DIY...

EDIT: Alright. To-date, I have figures out that 1) it is better to have only the outer rim of the puclamp to press down on the LP, and 2) the label area needs to be raised just slightly above the mat for '1)' to function correctly.
With my puclamp, I affixed that 6 pads so the center portion remains raised, however the outer edge of the LP is making more seesaw (vertical) wave motion than without the puclamp. My 45 adaptor is way too thick to use as the '2)', so I have to find something else. Maybe I can cut a piece out of the mat from a previously smashed Sansui table (don't ask why)...
