anyone else running vintage Empire carts?

In the event that it is impossible to find an original diamond, which alternatives would you recommend besides the S900GT or the 2000E/III? I was thinking, for example, of the 2000E/II, which is very similar...

It may be possible to find an S1080LT or an S980LT stylus in France from, say, Le Bon Coin. That would be the ideal outcome.
But being similar, as you say, the S2000E/II would work nicely. In fact, I can't think of an Empire-made stylus with a square brass (or plastic) insertion tube and the ability to track at 1.25g that wouldn't work, if not always optimally. Your choice will be limited only by price and the availability of the stylus you want.

The only possible problem I can imagine would be a stylus's interference with the 1080 LT's black plastic cap, but that would be easy to overcome with sandpaper.

Thank you for this feedback, but actually, after trying, the diamonds for Empire 2000 are not directly compatible with the 1080LT. It would indeed require a modification for them to fit, which I think is too risky, as there is a risk of damaging the diamond if it is handled incorrectly...
 
There is always a risk doing things with cartridges and styli not strictly designed for them. Even handling a stylus correctly has some risk. I certainly don't blame you for avoiding it. This means you'll have to find a Dynamic Interface stylus.

Thanks.......But alas, a closer inspection would expose me to be the amateur carpenter I truly am. It was a fun project though and I've got plenty of red cedar boards from an old fence we replaced with a white, vinyl one. (see pic)

Using repurposed wood is a slow process, but I must admit this fence looks much nicer, chopped up and standing in my stereo room. It sounds a lot nicer also :rflmao:

They are the Shakti Audio Hallograph Soundfield Optimizers, originally pedaled in the early part of the new millennium. Google it to see all the miraculous things they could do.

I don't remember what they sold for back then but they are "only" about fourteen hundred bucks, these days.

A certain well-known record remixer/remasterer, who has a website/forum, was big on them at the time but these days - ?

In fact, in Europe, and more specifically in France, we generally have a more Cartesian approach, so many sellers often ignore this kind of specialized equipment. However, I have been paying attention to what can be done with Wi-Fi for about 50 years, and I have never seen these Shakti Audio Hallograph sound field optimizers, either in physical stores or online... (In France)

Hat’s off to you Doug! Love it. Everyone should know that the Optimizers are going to add between +3dB to +5dB in Feng Shui for any setup! Russ is spot on!
