Anyone Familar with this unknown SHURE cartridge?

I met a neighbor in our gated community who showed me a Pioneer headshell with a square black Shure "PSM72" cartridge installed. Now I could not see any Shure logo printed on cartridge body BUT: "PSM72" was printed on front of cartridge body and it had a Shure 8X stylus installed but had a broken cantilever. It looked as though the 8X stylus grip may have been slightly modified/melted to fit?:nono: Is ANYONE familiar with this cartridge?:scratch2::scratch2:

Certainly. It's one of a series of private-label cartridges Shure made. Many (all?) of them have what appears to be a big "25" on the front or top. In fact, there's a current thread called "Shure 25", which can be found here. You'll see a chart that lists the styli, some of which are still available as new-old-stock.

Since yours is basically an M75ED body, many Shure styli will fit.

Check the vinyl engine cartridge database. According to them, it is a shure cartridge that was sold to OEMs using a N14 stylus. According to LPtunes, the N14 is not available, but a N13 is a substitute.

Anyway, YMMV, but that is what I was able to find.

Ah, Well I'll be damned! I've still so much to learn. And here I thought I was a SHURE fan with scadds of ol' Shure cartridges in the collection and I didn't even have a clue. How embarrasing.:wtf: So shurely the same as many of the Shure cartridges I already have but It'd still be cool for my Shure family of cartridges eh.:scratch2: Thanks!
