Two great bands indeed. :thmbsp:

My favorite Strawbs release is "Hero and Heroine" (mainly because of "Autumn", to me the best song of the band), but I also like "Grave New World" and "Ghosts" a lot. :ntwrthy:

As for Triumvirat, even though many may consider "Spartacus" as being their best release, my personal favorite will always be "Illusions on a Double Dimple". :yes:

Old Loves Die Hard is another great one by Triumvirat.
Haven't read the entire thread yet, but Gentle Giant and Camel are two bands that I've rediscovered in the last year or so.
 
Anyone heard of Cathedral? The American group with Rudy Perrone on guitar, they had only one album, I believe, "Stained Glass Stories". It's also on cd, very rare I think.
Anyway, I grew up near Rudy. He's a musical prodigy in my eyes (ears). Totally incredible guitarist. Has a cd on Amazon, "Guitar in the Kitchen".
Also was in the group "Industry". His band in our high school days was "Ton". They were heavy (get it). :D

I stopped buying DVD's for exactly that reason.
 
I really like progressive rock. My fave band of any genre is Kansas.

I really like Yes, ELP, Ozric Tentacles, Asia, GTR, Alan Parsons Project, Tull, Saga, Keats, etc. I know the definitions are very broad and what some consider prog, others don't. There is a lot I haven't been exposed to yet. It takes a certain type to appeal to me. I like the harder stuff too.

I just saw The Strawbs in concert last week at a small venue. It was an all
acoustic show. Absolutely great! Nektar is touring, and I will be seeing them in a few weeks.

I saw Triunvarat in the early 70's, including the soundcheck, at Asbury Park
Convention Hall. Haven't heard that name in decades!

Indeed, one of my favorites. Jon Hiseman is probably my favorite drummer of all-time (at least, my favorite of all-time, recently :D ). I also really enjoy his work with Tempest (first album has Allan Holdsworth on guitar!) and especially Colosseum II...while forced to use the name by management, its actually a different beast, much more aligned with the fusion of the day (which I love anyway...think Return To Forever - Romantic Warrior, etc.). CII had Gary Moore on guitar and Don Airey on keys...great, GREAT stuff...check out "Electric Savage", especially...blistering! Nice cover too. :smoke: Can find copies easily, and for little coin (on LP anyway). Worth looking for!
 
To me, Tull is interesting because I don't think they were doing prog until their electronica days in the 1980's. Albums like 'A' and Broadsword and the Beast, then Under Wraps. Even those albums were only partly prog.
 
Yes, my first concert was King Crimson on the "Larks Tongues in Aspic" tour at the Kinetic Playground in Chicago in '73.
