Anyone know why McIntosh just discontinued so many products all of a sudden?

The heart of the MDA200 is the McIntosh DA2 Digital Audio Module, which resides in much of their equipment. Unfortunately the DS200 and MCD12000 D/A modules aren't upgradeable to the DA2 module.
Yeah I know. That’s why it’s a shame they discontinued it. It was a really convenient way to add one to the preamps that don’t have one like the C12000 and C22. I’m actually somewhat nervous that they are abandoning the modular DAC concept since they’ve released so many new products without a modular DAC over the last few years.

It's a changing world. The rental class isn't the slightest bit interested in non-portable devices of any kind. Neither are they interested in sitting down in one spot for longer than it takes to consume their door dashed meal.

Just look at the tons of high end furniture on marketplace which folks are desperate to give away. Much of it will end up in landfills.

We grew up wanting the stuff we now own - whether that was a McIntosh stereo or an Ethan Allen sideboard. Remove that from the equation and your business model looks a lot different than when Gordon Gow defined geographic boundaries for each dealer and showed them how to cultivate their respective markets. This is 3 generations now best I can tell ...

Bose may have been late to the party.

Fortunately there’s no shortage of McIntosh units which are upgradable to the DA2, like the MA9000, MA8900, MA7200, MA5300 integrated amps, the MAC7200 receiver and the C49 and C8 preamps.

The C8 and C49 were both just discontinued.
Fortunately they are still available for purchase. Buy one while you still can!
Otherwise there are still several preamps with the DA2 like the C53, C55, C2700 and C2800 and you can still add it to the MA9000, MA8900, MA7200, MA5300 if preferred.

I have a C2700 already so I’m good probably forever. Also the C2700 and C53 have been discontinued for a while now. They were discontinued when the C2800 and C55 came out.

Just learned about this news today.

I'm personally really sad that Mcintosh retired the MS500 Streamer... it's a seldom talked about product but I've loved mine and found it to be one of the best sounding streamers I've heard, plus it has a built in FLAC 500GB local storage 'Jukebox', AirPlay, and an HDMI video output for album art and info. Sure it's pricey for a streamer, but it's fairly unique in its feature set.

Kinda worried now for the future of the brand...

 Can you see signatures?

And hey, Las Vegas has some nice buildings but it’s for a particular kind of customer.

Do you think McIntosh makes their own chassis (polished SS is cost cutting btw), manufactures all the parts that go into their transformers, all the switches and jacks and sockets? Do they still have an assembly line of ladies in Binghampton building the turret boards and wiring everything? Who made their tubes anyhow (not like they were ever in the tube business anyway), Russians or Chinese? Maybe Slovakians? Hmm.

Obviously it’s a globalized world and people have long gotten their parts from all sorts of places. Back when my amp and preamp were made, Lafayette Radio supplied them with many odds and ends. They did most of the manufacturing themselves, typical for the time. My comment above is more indicative of some manufacturers dropping products because their components - which they don’t make - are too expensive and they don’t make enough money on each to afford units sitting around and it’s not like they make things to order. But hey if their suppliers were in Binghampton then maybe they could.

Anyway you ought to apologize.
If I may digress......Lafayette Radio.......My introduction, to Mcintosh back in 1969!

And this is exactly why I passed on the DS200. I hope I'm wrong, but I predict that there will never be a DA3 module; it's hard to sell a new preamp or integrated amp to someone that only needs to replace the digital module!
