Anyone sell their CD player and CDs???

I've sold some CD's over the years .. usually albums that I just didn't spin at all and just take up storage space.

Never "collected" all that many CD's (less than 1,000 greatest hits, best of or other types of compilation albums) .. my Vinyl collection is much larger.

Have not bought a standalone CD player in years .. last one was in 2005. Never sold any either .. I've kept them all. I rarely spin CD's anymore (I do play CD rips on DAPs) .. mostly stream Tidal or spin Vinyl.

Most of my hard disc spinning is DVD/Blu Ray discs .. usually from the local library as the only "rental" DVD/Blu Ray(s) left in my area are Redbox vending machines and I don't use those.

I still have all my CDs and SACDs. I don’t plan on selling them. I recently sold my cd/sacd player and bought a new transport. I still have my LPs, Turntable and R2R. And yes I have a streamer too. I enjoy them all. The only thing I have abandoned is cassettes. I sold my player and gave all my tapes away.

I sold my CD player and CDs, along with my record deck and LPs in June this year.

Went solely streaming and changed my system round to accommodate this.

DG…

I do a lot more streaming these days but still have some CD players and all my CDs (and also use DVD players).

Quite an established thread and a little late to the party.

I sold my CD's back in around 2010 or so and moved solely to streaming and my own music server, quickly found I lost my passion for music without really knowing why, it wasn't to do with sound quality.

Then in 2016 I got a record player and moved primarily to vinyl and haven't looked back since. Despite the pain in the arse from a maintenance perspective, and sound quality factor removed as it's quite a contentious and subjective subject, I find that there's just so much more enjoyment over the physical product, and the rituals that are associated with upkeep of records. Even the added expense doesn't concern me, not from a standpoint of it doesn't matter as I'm certainly not rich at all, but the cost vs enjoyment factor is heavily outweighed for enjoyment.

I much prefer it even to CD. Each record is such a piece of art, and finding those right pressings is a joy even when you get it wrong.

I love it.

Can't friends give me their cd collections. A thousand new to me discs to enjoy or at least hear once if not my type of music. Found at least a few hundred good discs and 25-50 great additions to me collection. Car has a changer in it and tape no other way to put my tunes in it.

I still have my CDP. Still buying CDs and considering upgrading DAC.

Right now just trying to post a response to any thread. Can’t seem to do so.

I would never part with my CD's. Like slow Jaz, I won't make the same mistake with CD's that I did with vinyl.

Selling the hardware is one thing , That can always be replaced. But a personal collection of CD's, LP's or Cassette tapes is something most people will regret sooner or later.

That said if I had several hundred I might consider tossing CD''s I almost never listen to.

I saved my cds but disposed of all the jewel cases a while ago. They are all stashed in big zip up car cases. I don't really have a cd player other than my DVD connected to my TV and one in my car. I never listen to them, I just stream. If I feel like handling media I spin records or play cassettes. Truth is, I don't really listen to a lot of the music I listened to during my CD phase. :dunno:

I think the only mistake was to let my dad trash the small CD collection we had, that was a few years ago.
Nowadays if anything I'm buying more CDs, I love the leaflets inside and I'm fortunate to have my own place now so I also started buying vinyl records.

I use streaming for discoverability and once in a while when I spot something I like I consider buying used or new (depending on the situation).
I also use the music shops to do discoverability which is great, you get to speak with some people, get to listen to some stories some times.

What I have sold so far was the CD players, started with the Yamaha CD-S303, then Sony SCD-XB770 and SCD-XE800, those are gone.
I've kept the Marantz CD50 and the Sony SCD-555ES (which is my favourite)
I really do not understand the hype on the Marantz CD50

The only other CD player I have listened to that I crave is the Yamaha CD-S3000, but purely because I would like to have the opportunity to compare it to the Sony SCD-555ES.

Kept all the CDs and the CDPs. Acquired more CDs as well! Recently picked up a Topping D90SE for streaming and appreciate the additional available digital inputs so perhaps I'll feed my CDP to it at some point to see if I can hear a difference.

My biggest problem is the CD players. I only have two.

But for some reason I have 4 LD players, one DVD player......2 Playstation 2's, two Playstation 3's, Two Playstation 4's.......

.....I have too many gadgets.

I do both. Still have all my cd's....a few hundred. I mostly stream but when I want the best sq I pop in a cd. Gotta say it though, streaming sounds damn good on my systems. Not quite as good as cd but damn close.
Ditched tapes and vinyl years ago.
Streaming playlists in my vehicle rules. Screw the radio. Put it on shuffle and "Damn, I forgot all about THAT song....great tune!"

I still have my Marantz CD-50, CD-60 and CD-80 players with the pantograph movement, reliable, fast operation time, undestructible and quite repairable.
T

Could you tell me what's the model of the remote control for the Marantz CD-50, please? I've been looking for one but all images from the past are blurred and I can't understand what to look for exactly.

Streaming has all but replaced the CD for me, I listen to vinyl much more often.

But I don't want to get rid of my CD player or CDs, and I still buy them if the vinyl copy is too expensive.
