Anyone start a project and never finish it?

I get tired and fed up with the complexities of the ideas I would like to turn into projects and that leaves me no strength to finish the ones that I have already started..

Seriously, there are two different types of unfinished projects.

The "legitimate" ones, the ones that are paused while we need to think how to overcome an obstacle, wait for a missing part we need to find or something similar.

And then there are the ones we pause because we loose interetest or because we found something more interesting to do, or both.

Have you seen kids playing? They bring out all their toys, play with one, start playing with another one, then forget them both and steal their friends toys.

This is fun and this is what we are actually doing. Imitating kid's play with our own toys. No reason to feel bad about it. We just rediscover how it is to play and be kids again.

yup . . .

I feel your pain :D:D

the only thing worse than not finishing projects for yourself, is not finishing them for OTHERS . . I'm guilty of both sadly, although at least it's the 'obstacle' issue (gotta reup on caps dammit!)

btw - you have mail :D

I WAS finished:

The swimming pool I built never got the light hooked up or the coping finished and the wisteria arbor needs completion.

and honey dos, and yard work (about 2 acres) and go to the dump and garage sales (more audio projects)

I'm not complaining I enjoy all I do.

Maybe another cup of coffee...

It is good to know that I am not alone in this affliction. I have had it since as long as I can remember - started with that d*mn 70cc Honda mini-bike tat I took apart. It was like humpty-dumpty, all the king's horses and all the king's men. Yea, that was sold for a whopping $50 as I assured the guy that every part was there(?). Hey, I was a kid. But it continues. AS far as projects not on my Speaker list - the big one is refurbishing my deck - it is sad. And that is just the tip of the iceberg there.

It took me about a year or two to get the handles on my unfinished kitchen cabinets. :)

If that's any indication on how long it's going to take me to refurb the deck then I am SOL. Do they sell motivation in the bottle?

Oh, and let me add. You guys and dolls are hilarious.

for the last two months

I have been doing a lot of landscaping around here since the fire a few years ago. I've been working on a ninety foot wall of versa lock block. A lot of class five, dirt and such and no bobcat to do it. All hand done with shovel and pick. A few hours every day and then something else for an hour or so. Still have to finish the backside terraced walls from last year and then put in a paver patio. Hopefully before the snow flys.....lol

I found a trashed Citation II in about 1993. It worked, sort of, so I knew the trannies were good, but it had lead a rough life. The bias meter had been replaced by a couple of test terminals, which wasn't that big a deal. But a prior owner apparently tried to fix an overheating problem by drilling a bunch of extra holes the chassis :tears:

I bought all the parts I needed to completely recap it, and replace all the smaller resistors, and a couple of the large glass ones that tested bad. I also stripped it down, cleaned it, and began rewiring it with sliver plated copper, teflon insulated, wire. But my wife got sick of it being on our dining room table (I think it was late November, and she said something about having the family over for turkey), so it got packed up and put into a closet.

6 years and a house move later, I got motivated to finish the job. Amazingly, I still had all the parts. Even more amazingly, I figured out how to put them all back together, and ended up with an outstanding amp.:music:

Since then, I've never been willing to admit that I wouldn't ever finish a job, no matter how long it's sat :D

Are you speaking of the forest fire in northern minnesota from a few years ago?

I use to keep a lists of incomplete projects, to do items, etc. Then I started a new list of where I put the other lists. Now I've lost that list. I'm dead in the water.
