Anyone Think These Are Worth $800?

I paid $250 for a very similar pair in original boxes a few years back. They all sound the same but cosmetics are a pricing factor and those are priced at the upper end for walnut cabs. Definitely much too high for HBRs.

I just sold a pair of HBR's for $500 so I think $800 is way too high, like most vintage stuff nowadays.

well, it depends on how much you want them

purchased a pair in 2012 for $400 HBR, in 2013 another pair for $400 HWO, sold the HBR pair in 2017 for $400, I like renting speakers for free.

but I see they're now more in the $600 range so there's that, $800 is a bit steep even if HWO.

All that said, if new definitely a HUGE bargain, have you checked prices on new models? Not a whole lot of difference really when you get right down to it.

I still have my Walnut pair as part of our master bedroom system, they rock. If you get a pair I highly recommend spiking them, tightens up the bass while protecting the bottoms from getting scratched.

I emailed the guy. He's pretty firm at $750, won't go lower. And he wasn't interested in any of the audio stuff I have for sale. While these may go for $400 all day long in your area, in my area these are as scarce as hen's teeth. I live in an audio desert!

let me put it a different way, for $750 if you like the sound you won't feel you over paid.

Do you really need these? There has to be something better for the price in your area.

Remember the market for so much is inflated now. You could overpay as many are. Great for us flippers though.......

I sold JBL 4311's for just under $600 with slightly dented tweeters in the Summer.

Much better speaker.

The price of vintage gear looks to be keeping up with the pace of inflation. But as these vintage pieces get older the price should go up. They ain't being made any more, and that helps fetch a premium price. No, I don't need these, and my Salk Song Towers sound as awesome as the first day I set them up. They are the best speaker I've owned to date, but like anyone in this hobby, I'm looking over the fence at that greener grass!

If a pair of these come up at a decent price I'll probably jump on them. In the mean time the 3 Sansui's and the Salk speakers keep me quite contented.

Well, they would likely sound better with your 1000a than most SS gear. Still, I wouldn't pay 800, especially when you could get some used recent models like Focal, Kef, Elac and have money left over for a budget subwoofer.

Yeah no way I’d pay $800 for Heresy I. I’ve seen Heresy II in pristine condition go for $500. I wouldn’t pay more than $450 if they are pristine.

I'll counter the other responses and say that I sold.a pair of heresies for 650 a couple of years ago and heresy II's for 700. The price vintage audio is going up and honestly if you like the Klipsch sound that's about the top of what they are worth. Could you flip them for a profit? No. But if you're unhappy with them you should be able to get your money back out of them. Just look at recent evilbay sales to see what they are selling for

Over the summer, I sold 2 pair of the HBR model, veneer restored and crossovers too. One pair had the risers, one did not. Both pair in excellent condition, 450 a pair. Since then, all the Heresy speakers I have come across have been 500 and up, depending on condition.

Do the Heresy's require a sub? That is a deal breaker IMO. My song towers do not need a sub, and I've found that none of my vintage amps/receivers lack bass while driving them. And they all have the loudness button, which I don't use very often. Seems to muddle the bass, especially with the 317.
