Fisher 800-c

Those Fishers are a classic. There are a couple on CL in the Bay Area, and one serviced with a wood case for $850.

They're really great sounding, had an 800C in my main rig for a long time. Only sold it because I had a nicer 500C. Go get it, that's a fair price for a nice 800C.

Hey, thanks for the input guys. I would but these units are approaching $1k I just don't see the value in them. (Waving hand) Eye of the beholder and all that. Everything is approaching $1k even mid level stuff. I'm good.
Maybe I'll run into one at a sale.

MSRP was $449.50 back in 1963, which is $3,689.95 in today's dollars. They do turn up cheap occasionally, or you can get a junker and rebuild it yourself for the DIY discount.

The combo could end a lot of audiophiles' search right there. I've heard Belles with 800c and 500c plenty of times and needless to say, they sound amazing together. Looks like the seller is taking offers. Who knows. Maybe the seller will take your offer.

If you're serious about the purchase, my suggestion is to meet first, and bring your cash. Let your cash do the talk . Seriously, from my experience, flashing that cash will get things done. Just the other day, I was buying a vintage guitar. Didn't bring enough cash with me, and the seller was asking $1500 - which was very reasonable. I was short by $300. He said "NO". When I pulled the cash out, his answer quickly changed to "okay".

Lol, cash is nice.
But I'll wait for the right one. Like the Bell's having looked for months at different speakers none fit the bill for the area I was looking for. They were all slender. Yuk. But when I spied the Bell's & not to be corny but love at first sight. I KNEW in my gut that was the perfect speaker.
So the same with any tube gear that I'll get. One day I'll stumble across "it". It'll be a Bam! Moment.

Always have cash in two pockets. One for the lowball, and the other pocket has the remaining amount in case you really wanted the piece and the seller is firm on the price!

Oh...and thirdly, a wad of cash in your trunk in case the seller also has other gears that he's willing to let go seeing how nice of a guy you are. I ran into a couple of situations where I wish I had brought more cash for the remaining gear....

This is so true, and has happened to me once or twice.
