Anyone with vintage Rotel experience?

Locally, there's an RX-1203 receiver for sale. Price is a little high at $200, IMO, but what's the deal with late 1970's Rotel?

I've no experience with Rotel, but the one you mention is one of the "monster" 120 watt receivers.

I have a Rotel RX-402 set up on my desk at work. All in all, mine is very neutral and pleasant for jazz and classical music. I haven't had any issues with it at all, other than needing a good cleaning of the pots when I first got it. I would love to stumble into a bigger Rotel for my home setup.

Ive got an rx-403, just a little feller, but more or less the same vintage kinda. I think vintage Rotel is wonderful, pop the cover and everything is so nicely laid out, and neat. Almost like someone thought about what they were doing and took pride in it to boot. Got mine on that auction site...cleaned the pots and switches, and hasnt skipped a beat yet in 6 months. I too am keeping my eye out for another, or amp or whatever. Definitely a believer.

$200 is not unreasonable is it is VG to mint and you are able to preview and local pickup. If you buy on ebay, figure on $50 shipping cost that you will not have to pay and $200 starts to look reasonable. Anyways, the RX-1203 is a classic Rotel and one of only two that are worth collecting, the other being the TOTL RX-1603. The RX-1203 is cosmetically similar with the same solid metal handles and knobs. Anything lower down the line and you start getting cheap plastic handles and trim.

The RX-1203 is the little brother to the TOTL RX-1603. If I do remember correctly, the 1203 is second or third in line from the 1603, I don't remember. But it is one of the good receivers from that line.

there's only a couple of reasons to be caught dead in bridgeport, i'd say that would qualify as one, the other of course being that girl who used to "work" as a "waitress" at that tavern/hotel establishment just over the bridge. :thmbsp:

Your ok, as long as you don't cross into the Madison county side... wait... I live in that county.... :tears:... but yeah saw it too. I would see about talking him down, but 200 isn't out of the ball park, as pretty as that one is.
