I'm always confused by the contradictory position of preaching the merits if the free market while demonizing businesses in the audio industry for making money.

I think the bottled water guys have got it made.
How hard it must be to bottle water, and then laugh all the way to the bank as people spend more per litre on water than petrol!
Considering the technology, man power and industry required to extract, refine and transport petroleum, it makes you realise how much of a great gig the bottled water companies are on.
Never understood why I would buy water in a bottle, which is 1000% more expensive than tap water.
I understand there are some places and perhaps some times where tap water may not be drinkable, but that's the exception rather than the rule.

Just heard a very credible rumor on Financial Times that Apple is in negotiations to buy Beats for 3.2 billion. Deal could be done in a week or so according to Financial Times.
Wonder if any good could come of this or if it is Lucifer joining forces with The Wicked Witch of the West.
Yes, the most likely scenario is Apple buying Beats to access the streaming market. Apple has a history of enhancing an existing space or product, making it more accessible and charging more. They probably have already worked out changes to streaming so they just needed the vehicle to roll them out. Hopefully higher rez.
Buying Beats as the dominant, profitable and rapidly growing brand in the space at 3 times revenue seems like a very reasonable buy, possibly a steal if they make something out of it. Given that 3.2 billion is 2% of Apple's cash, this is a relatively small bet.
Microsoft, Google, Apple. The major three platform players in software and hardware. They'll keep gobbling slowly but surely. And they all want you to live in their world.
I recently jumped on Google with their Chromebook (after MS XP support ended) and could not be happier. It does everything I want/need it to do for $199. Yes, I have to live in Google-ville, but I don't care.
