AR Model XA Turntable

My first "real" turntable was the AR-XA bought in 1972. Used it for years. I belive the manual for it is up on the Classic Speakers site.
 
i have one of these although mine is the two-motor version. i plug it in, turn it on and nothing happens. the motor won't spin the platter. is there a cure for this or do i have to buy a new motor..? (belts are good...so that won't be the problem)

Maybe the motor needs oil?
