They would have been made and branded for DuMont by a mainline manufacturer, so yes.

Sure about that? Dumont made their own picture tubes, and also several varieties of "magic eye" tubes. Wouldn't be much of a stretch to do some of the other tubes used in their sets?
** That said, I just found out that Dumont's novals were probably made by Amperex ... their tubes were all over the place in quality depending on when they were produced. One clue there is Amperex rebrands usually had "HOLLAND" on the label.

Sure, why not? If they test OK, they'll do the job, which is all I expect of test tubes for projects. Second, if the project has issues, you aren't putting premium tubes at risk.
A quick Google search reveals that some Dumont 6DJ8s were made in Holland at the same plants Amperex used. Check out the date codes and getters; your cheapies could be top shelf tubes rebadged and quite a bargain.

Dumont was a reputable tube manufacturer but produced mainly CRT's (for oscilloscopes and television receivers) and some specialized types, I don't think they ever produced the 6DJ8 type of tubes. That being said, all the Dumont branded tubes I had the opportunity to test so far were of excellent quality.

I have a DuMont black & white tv with DuMont tubes. Still working.
I believe ranch is referring to Luis aka eduarsan1. If you do a search and a member Barter Town you will come across it and the reviews.
I am one of those that purchased these DuMont labeled Tungsram made tubes and was pleased on its sonic qualities given the price paid. At the time my reference was the EH 6922 in a Budgie phono pre. Since then I have moved on to other makes, but if the tubes are tested good and the seller is reliable then I say try it out.

In the audio tube market, Dumont, was mostly reseller and had their labels put on tubes from other manufacturers. So, you need to be able to recognize the distinguishing characteristics of the particular tube type you are buying to know who is the original producer.

It is funny that they did that selling their competitors tubes with their own labels. I guess people, I mean companies, used to get along better with each other in those days. Professional courtesy?

Excepting the 1930s, there was something going on with some mfgrs (two being Philco and Zenith) and Sylvania vs RCA that I have not figured out.
Don't mean to resurrect a thread this old but there are very few mentions of DuMont-branded tubes anywhere. My tech has some DuMont-branded EL34s supposedly made by Mullard. Has anyone heard of this? Trying to get a date code.

Yes, as mentioned DuMont had their name branded onto manufacturers tubes such as Mullard, Amperex etc.

As to tell if it's a Mullard, identify the codes at or near the bottom of the glass using this link for an example

See the differences of EL34 tubes from 1950s - 1970s Philips production in Blackburn (Mullard), Eindhoven (Philips) and Hamburg (Valvo). Different double getter (DD ring OO), base (metal big bakkelite brom or black base) or plate construction types with xf1 xf2 xf3 xf4 xf5 code.

Indeed. He sold it and bought a Burger. Guy had no sense of humor and didn't appreciate being referred to as the Burger King. I'd have leaned into it and arrived absolutely everywhere with a paper crown on.
