Ashly FET-2000 amp in NJ

Here's an Ashly FET-2000 for $100 in New Jersey. The spec sheet says 300 WPC into 8 ohms, stereo. Sounds like a deal.

This will shame amps here that people go ga-ga over for 10-20X the price, however it's a pro amp, "They all suck and have fans". :nono: If I were closer at a C note, I'd own it.

I do have access to one and actually owned one for a short while. At a studio auction me and a friend each bought one. I hooked it up at home but the fan noise was terrible at low volumes.
As I recall I did some research and found my amp had more transistors and was a little better then my friends but both were 2000 models.
I sold it to my friend who still has it.

Damn good. Not for quiet chamber music. Fan can be swapped out for quieter version. If you need listen at very low levels even a clock radio would suffice. This amp shines when it is being pushed a bit. Another good powerhouse is the Mackie M2600. This made in Washington state. The newer Mackie product as a division of Loud Technology I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole.

I currently own 4 FET's for my personal use at home, a 200, a 500, a 1000M, and a 2000M. I've owned as many as a dozen back in the day when i used them for live sound. They're the real deal, no frills, and IMO, the closest thing to a straight wire with gain in the pro audio world back then, and still today compared to a lot of what's out there.

I'm also a big fan of BGW amplifiers and still own one of their original "monsters", but the Ashly's are the only pro amps that remain in continuous rotation here.

Too bad this isn't the "M" version with meters.

Yep, I agree with others here, that's a good deal on a very good amp. I have the older FET 500 and am tempted by this one.

Basically the same amplifier as discussed with the addition of turn on delay and some basic speaker protection. You done good, if you bought it.

I have a pair of the "M" version amplifiers. Sadly, they don't break into the rotation often with the speakers I am currently using. Same with a pair of Crown D-150A's that I used to use in bridged mode. But I can't bring myself to get rid of them. They are wonderful insurance policies should I agian come across power-hungry speakers, or should I ever decide to tri-amp.
