At What Store, Now or Past, Would you Like to Shop?

suppose you could go to any store, now or past, with a wallet of appropriate money, wampum, or electrum cobs?

I think I would like to go to a Radio Shack in the 1980s and get me a Realistic stereo (and speakers of course).

alternate; a Southern diner in the 1950s for some real fried chicken (smoke free, please.)

note; 'cobs' are crude pieces of money. I think they would roll the metal into something like a corn cob and slice bits off.

'electrum' is a gold/silver alloy.

The real decline of KMart began when they changed their name from S S Kresge Co to KMart Corp.

I too would have to say Radio Shack from about 1995 and earlier when they still sold raw drivers. Also Goodwill in the mid 80s and earlier when “vintage” audio gear was stacked up high and selling for dirt cheap. If I was only old enough to have had a job back then I would’ve bought so much equipment.

CMC Stereo in Kansas City. Was a Pioneer store. Bought my PL12D there. I will always remember the smell of that place

Bought my Snell speakers at the store on 101A in NH.

Ray Mullin Music in Pawtucket RI. They had used guitars of every make and model...all super cheap by todays prices...That was back when they were 'used' instead of 'vintage'. They were always willing to take trades and make a deal.
In 1980 I bought my 1956 Martin D-18 there for $500...with a case.

There was a great record store near me a few years ago, then they closed due to high rent and were replaced by a liquor store. Now there are no record stores near me at all. A great little Hi-Fi buy/sell/service shop where I bought my La Scalas in 2014 also closed up suddenly and is now a cell phone repair place.

Two branches of the same record store remained open inside the exclusion zone (Portland). As far as I'm concerned that might as well be on the other side of the world.

I miss being able to browse thousands of records and CDs to find new (to me) music, or a sought-after gem in the new arrivals bin.

So, I want my record store back!
