That's about what I paid for mine from the same place. By the way, is anyone else finding this cart maybe slightly on the bright side? I don't know if that's the best term to describe what I'm hearing, but when I flick the high-end filter switch on my amp, the sound really mellows out. Without the filter, it kinda sounds a little hissy, if that makes sense.

Hey Guy's

Note that this is the ORIGINAL AT-440ML. It is NOT the AT-440Mla that they are selling here. I saw this too and was Blowen away untill I realized it was the ML, not the MLa.

That listing is misleading. I ordered from the exact same seller and I did, in fact, get the MLa. If you read the latest 4 buyer reviews, they all mention that they THOUGHT they were getting the ML and ended up with the MLa. I got wise to this, placed an order, and the MLa is exactly what I got! ...Despite the listing saying it was the ML. I was nervous waiting for it to come though. I thought it would be my luck that I would get the old one when everyone else was getting the new one.

And yes, the the shipping IS outrageous. It's less than half a pound, so what the hell? :| But, even after you add the lame shipping charge to the price, you're still getting a really nice cartridge for about 90 bucks.

I don't remember what I paid for mine, but it was a heck of a lot more than $90. Looks like a deal to me.

Cool avatar... That reminds me, I should listen to that on my MLa... I have several copies, but I'm not sure if any of them are very good. Never really listened to any of them.

Thanks--I always related to the lad on the "GS Scooter." :smoke:Every time I cue it up (which is often), I am teleported back to the days of my youth. Townsend did a spectacular job of capturing "teenage angst." It's one of those albums where I have to listen to the whole thing to enjoy it, like DSOTM.

I really need to find a clean vinyl copy of this, mine has a few too many clicks & pops. I know there is a vinyl reissue or two out there, and I might go that route.

I actually have three copies, only one of which is acceptable to listen to. What I'm after now is that elusive booklet it originally came with... I'm going to a record shop this weekend in Pittsburgh that has it, I just hope it's still there when I get to it...

Just ordered one, hope I get the MLa.
At this point, I'm going to be surprised if you DON'T get it. I think someone else posted a review since I got mine stating the same thing...

I just picked up a mint copy of the Who's Quarophenia at SA, I never really listen to it before. Awesome album.
That's awesome. I didn't really get into this album until fairly recently... Does yours have the booklet, by any chance?

What's "SA," by the way?

Salivation Army.
And if you see GW, that's Goodwill, not George Washington as some might think.

no booklet

Well, anyways, the nice thing about the MLa and Quadraphenia is that pretty much each side of the album ends with an epic track, especially side four. Thanks to the MLa, you should hear little to no inner groove distortion on those cuts.

Would a 440MLa represent an upgrade from a Grado Black?
Yes, I believe this is very much the case. I say this without having heard a Grado Black, however. I am basing my response on the things I've read here on Audiokarma.
