AU-9500 issues

Some issues I've found in my 9500, just wondering if anyone have suggestions...

1. There's a hissing in the unit that increases with increasing volume. It's about twice as loud when switched to phono as on the other inputs. Not really audible in normal use (volume set to ~1,5) but figuring it's not a good sign and needs fixing.

2. I have an active sub connected to the speaker B-terminal. When set to A, C or A+C the sub hums at 50Hz. At B or A+B (normal use) it's completely quiet. Is this a known issue? Does it need fixing, and if so would it help to switch to a grounded power cord and attaching the ground to the cabinet?

Bias has been set according to the manual as closely as I manage, and should not be the cause. I have not given it a proper cleaning yet (pots etc) but it's not dusty at all, and there's no major scratching in any switches.

I currently don't have the confidence to do any major work on this unit, looking for a simpler, cheaper sansui to learn on and I don't trust any local techs to work on it either.
