Have an au317 driving 4 ohm speakers. Sounds great from middle low to high.
Want to add 2 subwoofers to my setup to feel the low bass more.
Each passive subwoofer I already have is dual 4ohm voice coil and therefore can be wired in parralel or series for a 2 ohm or 8 ohm final load for each subwoofer.
Not sure what the sansui information on the back of the amp means about 8 ohm speakers. I am running 4 ohm load now on A speakers selector switch.
I plan on wiring each dual voice coil sub to 2 ohms and adding a low pass filter inline.
So, if I add the 2 ohm subwoofers to the B speaker outputs on the amp, I assume they would parrallel with the main speakers?? And the total ohms would now be too low for the amp?
But, if I run the subwwofers on 2 ohms and connect them in series to my main speakers on channel A, that would now be 6 ohms and should work?
The wires would go from plus on the amp A output to plus on the main speaker. Then from minus on main speaker to plus on the subwoofer with a low pass filter in the line. Then from minus on the subwoofer back to minus on the Speaker out A on the amp for a total load of 6 ohms?
Does this make sense as I don't think I really understand the Speaker A/B concept on the Sansui amp.
