Audio repair in eastern Virginia

Ehhh?

New Member
I am in need of a vintage audio repair person in eastern Virginia. If you know of any reputable techs in this neck of the woods please let me know.

I've used Audio Visual Service Lab (www.avsl.net) by Lynnhaven Mall on a couple of occasions. They did some repairs on my Pioneer SX-1280 (left channel intermittently failing) and a similar repair on a Pioneer SX-3700. I felt that they did a good job on them and that their prices were fair. Now for the rest of the story... On two occasions I've had them look and quote some repairs and rewiring on a couple of old tube amps (because I wanted to get them done and just didn't have time to get to them). I felt that the quotes they came back with were way, way out of the box and flat out outrageous. I basically got the impression that they just didn't want to do the tube amp work. That might not be the case but that's how I felt. I did not have them do the tube amp work. Based on a data point of "one", they may or may not be an option for you depending on what you're looking to have done. Anyway... FYI.

I would agree with Don's assessment of Audio Visual. They seem very limited in what they will work on especially vintage gear. It is a bit far from VaBeach but I have used Audio Visions on Broad Street in Richmond. Quality repairs done quickly and only a $20 diagnostic fee that goes to the overall repair cost if item can be fixed.
