You could try John at Custom TV in Natick. While I have been there and have friends who have availed themselves of his services I have never personally used him. Call him and ask if he can provide the services you require. I'm betting that it would be to your advantage to bring him a copy of the SM.

Whatever you do, do *not* go to Audio Pros in Watertown. Dishonest, immoral, and incompetent. Avoid at all costs.

Also Audio Studio (414 Harvard Street - Brookline, MA 02446 service: 617.277.2362) has been around for quite a while and I've heard decent things about them.
Q-Audio in Cambridge might be another option.
But if it were me I'd opt for Grateful; support the family.

Interesting. Some of the first conversations I ever had when I joined AK were direct phone calls with Audio Pros. I booked marked their website. I found the repair person (don't remember his name) very ineteresting and knowledgable. Plus, I found lots of useful information on their website. I am sorry to hear this.

Audio Pros did an excellent job refurbing my Otari 1/2" 8-track deck. Vince can be overbearing to be sure, but I am very happy with the job he did on my machine. The cost was reasonable too.
I can also highly recommend Audio Video Plus in Arlington (http://www.audiovideoplusinc.com/). The owner, Jim, is a heckuva nice guy and especially loves working on vintage tube gear. The shop was founded by his dad in the early '50s.

I've had three good experiences with the Service Bench. The tech Russ Wood is their vintage specialist.

Really?! That's too bad. I always enjoyed his contributions. Because of his level of experience and almost encyclopedic knowledge of many brands I entrusted to him the restoration of my cherished Marantz Model 1250 integrated amp and the repair of my Model 125 tuner. A straight shooter yet modest when sharing his knowledge. Very patient when explaining a technical problem and its solution to a novice. Top notch work at a fair price. :yes:
