Audio Research SP10 help needed.

Hello all. I’ve inherited a broken SP10. First thing I need is a very clear picture of the underside of power supply PC board. Especially the area where the chips are. Pretty bad repair was made there, chips replaced, but some of the traces are gone. I will need to restore those. Would really appreciate if someone could send me a good picture. Thx in advance.

I picked up a SP9 preamp that had a channel out, phono section out. Best thing I’ve done, sent it back to ARC mothership and had it restored. It’s back and beautiful. About $700 bill. Worth it.

I don’t know if you saw my latest post - I fixed the preamp and it’s working fine. I think I will replace the optocouplers just in case. The work that it needed would probably cost $2K at ARC. Thx for reply.

Did you determine specifics of parts changed in the unit? Did the version change, did you have a I or II updated to the III?

Yes, that SP-10 would have been a good bit more. It is nice ARC still repairs their products, if they can. I have an SP-3 something that needs restoration and I’ve done one for Tom Clone but I recently purchased an SP-3C from this century. Gives me options as I tackle restoration, hopefully restuffing the cans I pulled from Tom’s unit to keep mostly original looks.

Listen to old, new and old restored to see what’s going on. ARC still refreshes the 3 but at ‘call and ask’ pricing with all the parts availability issues of late. Meanwhile. I’ll enjoy the SP-9 now that I have returned the Marantz 7C to its owner. I still need to do long term listening to the 3C.
