Thanks, it's a fun project.

I got a quick listen in and so far things are looking good. The arm is definitely a step up from stock. The only issue right now is I need new damping fluid for the cueing and have to fiddle with the alignment, but should be done soon and will report back.

This thread really has me wondering what I could do with the Stanton straight 8 in my basement if I bought a different tonearm.....
 
I wanted to do a little update on this. I moved the arm to the right as much as I could without hitting the dust cover. This helped a little with the alignment issues I was having. The arm is much longer than stock, so I have to slightly twist the cartridge to get it align ok.

Another issue with the LP120 is the arm height. Both the stock arm and this new Denon arm are set too high to the platter. In order to get a good VTA range, I had to use a thick Technics MK2 mat and add spacers to the cartridge to get it level. Looks a little awkward, but does the job quite well. :D

I also treated myself to a "new" phono preamp with USB capability so I could transfer to computer if needed. This will provide an upgrade from my cheap Behringer pre. My custom preamp will also get retired as I can only use one preamp at a time!

The new pre has MC capability and I am very curious to see how bad the rumble will be with all that gain, maybe I'll have to find out. :music:

It's coming alone pretty nice.
I just got myself an SL-1200M3D. Just couldnt keep the urge.
Looking to get an MC cart and a new pre-amp.

Good idea to use the 1/4" mat anyhow - IMO

Yes the 1/4" mat is a must with this table. In fact I was experimenting with using the 1/4" and 1/8" Technics mat at the same time, but the spindle was not high enough to accommodate my center weight.
