Audio Technica AT7V, Signet?

I am very satisfied with this AT7v.
Have a Signer 7LCa on another table.
Wanted a similar one for my new to me table.
Didn't want to spend the extra $$ for the AT440ML.
 
It should work fine with your tonearm, probably at the higher tracking force of its recommended range. It isn't as compliant as a lot of other ATs, but the sound quality is excellent and the nude stylus is a great tracker.
 
The AT7V would be a great match for any medium to high mass arm. It’s 7cu compliance @100hz translates to 14-15cu at 10hz. Mine is mounted on a Thorens TD320mk3 with the 16g TP90 arm. The rig sounds fabulous. Both my ATF7 and OC9MLii sound better on the Cirkused Linn, but not by much. For sure AT7V is not the most detailed listen but it is more naturally balanced and musically satisfying and tracks better than just about any MM I’ve heard in recent memory, including AT’s 150MLX, Ortofon Blue, Nagaoka 200 (my other favorite) and Shure M97SAS. It is musical without sounding rolled off like a Grado. BTW I’m on my 3rd AT7V (broke one tip and loan one to a friend who refused to give it back). Only issue is bass is a bit tightfisted out of the box but that fleshes out in no time. And then there’s the midrange-oh so smooth. A modern day F9E for sure.

I do some cartridge rotation when I have time, currently my AT-7V is on my JVC QL-Y5F. What I like is I can switch out styli with others I have, 125LC, 140LC and 155LC(not tried yet).
So far I agree the cartridge is smooth, not over bearing. I do sense that low range vocals, like Leonard Cohen, seem just a touch back, but not untenable, but sometimes a bit too smooth, something like that..but once cranked up that mostly goes awayat-7v technica.jpg
 
“...the cartridge is smooth”. That’s pretty much what some reviewers said about the Grace back in the good old days (see below). I still have my F9E and there are some eerie similarities between the sound of these two cartridges. Not to be confused with the F9L which doesn’t track as well and sounds harsh. Also want to add that not sure what kind of arm is on your JVC but I’m finding the AT7V bass benefits from rigid heavier arms such as the TP90.

the Y5F has an electronically controlled tonearm, I'm not sure if mass plays a part in this instance. I also know that the tracking force is controlled electronically, but I don't know if that electronic sense also works in reverse, therefore there would be no mass to the arm. Does that make sense, or does the electonic arm, which I believe is also on some Denons, only work in a downward force?
Anyway, I like it. i also use a V15 II Improved, and it makes that cartridge sing pretty well!!
 
Here is a lab test of your TT from 1984 that explains how that electronic arm servo works to control the arm/cartridge resonance. Very interesting concept indeed! The important takeaway here is even if that servo is disabled (not sure if it can be switched off), your 17g arm would still be highly compatible with the AT7V.

OMG I miss the days of actual objective testing of audio gear! Now we get ridiculous prattle about PRAT, musicality, soundstage, endless brain-dead conjecture about cables, just mind-numbing idiot-speak. Instead of graphs and actual professional testing we get fools like Fremer. It makes me pine for days gone by...

Thanks for the Y5F test. I use AT150E with ATN152LP and i find it very good indeed.
I am a bit surprised about their subjective results though. And acoustic feedback complains. I find the plinth its weak point.
