AudioKarma mobile website?

I suppose this would be directed to Grumpy, Luvvinvinyl, and Wardsweb. Just throwing this out there...

I think it would be really neat to have a mobile version of the site for us that have phones with web capabilities. I did some really brief research on this and it seems to be possible (see here). Right now, I can load the full website, but it takes a very long time, especially when not on 3G (and it's difficult to navigate with the small screen). Is this something that yoos guys have ever looked into?

thanks a bunch!

Yes, this would be very, very nice. With the proliferation of forums using this same software, I'm surprised there isn't "an app for that" that re-formats the forum for the mobile device and adds all sorts of voodoo to make navigation and posting more convenient. It is *possible* to do it all now, but it takes tremendous dedication to do so.

I access AK as it is on my phone all the time. It's not a smart phone, just a semi-current web enabled phone. It doesn't seem to be a pain at all for me, as long as I have some sort of pen or stylus handing (or sharp fingernail) to 'click' on the small little words like 'new posts'. I have a pretty big screen on my phone, though.

It's how I survive being dragged to Joanne Fabrics by my lady.

I surf AK all day long on my Samsung Rogue, which has a small screen. I just use my fingernails to navigate links and keep it zoomed out so I can see everything. Even without the EVDO or whatever it is it is still relatively fast.

I have even bought and payed for items on barter town entirely from my phone.

I've used my BlackBerry on occasion when traveling...when I need the quick "fix". :)

Yeah, it's small, but it doesn't work too bad considering.

Very easy on my Droid. The zoom feature includes auto wordwrap, so it's always easy to read.

Not that I need any more timesucks in my life.

You are not alone! I was in the mall a couple of weeks ago reading AK while sitting on a bench waiting... and waiting... for my wife to return when a 50-something guy sits down on the other end of the bench and takes out his iPhone and starts doing pretty much the same thing that I was. It had to be quite a sight for the kids in the mall because we sure got some peculiar looks from them as they passed by. We must have looked like a couple of Grandpa's texting or twittering or some other kind of nonsense!

Actually, I read and post on AK and a few other sites from my iPhone all the time. As long as I have my reading glasses, other than creating a long post (such as this rambling post), no problem navigating AK at all.

I will see if there is anything we can do. Thanks

Grumpy

The Droids are very nice phones. I get on AK with my HTC Touch Pro 2 all of the time. It also has the wordwrap feature which makes it much easier to read posts.

I am still trying to see if there is anything we can do to make the site more "phone" friendly.

My iphone works pretty well as is (without an app), but the biggest headache are the small page numbers and < > buttons.

i have a touch screen huawei phone (found it trash picking, beleve it or not) thats connected to metro pos, painfully slow browser but i can acsess the fourms, but i cant post anything or much else.

On my own forum, I use a software plug-in called Tapatalk. It should be compatible with vBulletin, and it's free for Grumpy to install. However, the client app does cost ~$3.00, and is available for iOS and Android. The Blackberry and Nokia versions are currently free.

I use a blackberry on verizons network. Only drawback is the pages are so big, and take a while to load. Other than that, I live this place. Would be neat to see this.

I try to access AK from my iPod Touch, but it's just way, way, too small for my old eyes. A mobile 'skin' would be super cool.
