• The move to the new server is done. There are some software and database maintenance updates in process. This has us passing the hat around to help out. We appreciate any donations. Seriously, even a dollar helps. The payment page may be found here - https://www.audiokarma.org/support.html

Audiokarma Server upgrade We need your help !

Paypal away. Thanks for providing this awesome site. I would not be the man that I am with a great collection/pastime if it were not for your sites existence and great management. Additionally . . I'll try puttin' together some pieces that are still in storage for later donation as AK prizes. :thmbsp:

Just want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone !

Its still not too late to make a donation.

If I could help, I surely would - but with the recent move, my account is in the negative - and I don't start my job until tomorrow. (which means no paycheck for 2 weeks most likely - ugh)

Donation sent via Paypal

Done. Heck, in the short time I've been here, I've already saved a pile of money in repair costs from the tips I've gotten here on DIY repairs, so I'm still way ahead of the game! (Not to even mention the enjoyment!)

Thanks for everything guys,

Peter

Going to bump this thread as we are incurring massive repair charges to fix many problems with the site. If you can please donate. Thank you

We're paying to fix their hosting problems...?

Well, everyone's probably thinking it but someone has to ask it, so with all due respect, (and as to not become the focal point for your accumulated wrath and frustration), was this move to a better hosting server or cheaper [oops, pardon me, cost-effective] hosting server? :scratch2:

We have never gone the cost-effective route, at the expense of reliability, with AK’s server. We have tried to balance our needs with the level of service we purchase. However, we are not some large corporation that can afford a huge cluster of servers, which, by the way, AK’s traffic pretty much needs. Unless some rather generous donor steps up to flip the 5K, yes, that’s $5000.00 a month, to pay for said cluster, we will have to continue along on a multi-processor, mega-RAM server, in hopes that it holds up.

As for our recent move, it was planned to go to a much larger and faster server. However, in the move, our databases were hosed. Repairs of this type are neither cheap nor easy. Since our current server host caused the damage, and they aren’t up to the task of repairing it, we will be moving to a new host to get away from them. None of the companies we have used over the years are cheap by a long shot, and, as we have learned, the hard way, some are better than others. There is only one that is consistently ranked the best, year after year. It’s time we moved to them. Our new Hosting Company is the only one in the biz to guarantee 100% up time. This will be a major step up, in reliability, for which we will have to pay, dearly.

Our goal, for AK, has always been to make it self-sufficient, meaning that AK's advertising would cover the costs of the server bill and things like the Fest. It has not and is not even close. We rely upon the generosity of those who visit this site to help support it.

I despise coming on here putting my hand out to you fine folks, in hopes of meeting our bills, and it has been a very long time since this last happened, but we are not out of the woods, yet. I thank those of you who have generously supported AK, and ask that all of you who have not yet made a donation, to please do so.
