Audiophile Router?

I made two 1080p 60fps HD stereo 24bit WAV audio YouTube videos. One with regular Ethernet network and the other with a fiber optic network bridge between ISP modem and dedicated HTPC. There were no other variables. The source was TIDAL streaming 24bit/384kHz Hi-Res. Song Britten: Simple Symphony, Op 4 from 2L Audiophile Reference Recording.

Can you hear a difference?

Before I listened to the 2 recordings I was expecting to not hear a difference. I was wrong! IMO, the fiber connection sounds better. Much more clarity and harmonic richness! Nice work!
BTW, if I'd known that your first name was Dave, I wouldn't have been such a Dick in your other threads.

Bits are bits but likewise noise is noise. ISO-CAT6 uses an isolation transformer to reduce noise. Sonore has an updated version of my ultraRendu endpoint with one supporting optical ethernet for galvanic isolation.

Is it not doing the same galvanic isolation function as an optical network bridge, but through Ethernet and USB 2.0? Is there something I’m missing?

It's got an optical transceiver (that provides the isolation), but it's only the input for the device. It just uses USB as audio output. (PCM, DSD, etc). Your transceivers/convertors are just going from wired ethernet, to optical, back to wired.

Actually, that's a lot of functionality in that endpoint.

Yes, I have listened to almost all of Hans videos. I subscribe to his channel and donate monthly. His videos are VERY detailed, informative and entertaining. I very much like his approach in reviewing audio equipment and his added humor. I highly recommend his channel to anyone wanting to expand their knowledge in high fidelity.

My approach to addressing the noise introduced by switch mode wall warts used to power cable modems and routers (along with inexpensive media converters) is replacing them with an HDPlex dual linear power supply.

Yea, going to linear supplies is a pretty good, and reasonably priced method of doing that. Hopefully, that ethernet cable isn't tied to a power line though..

No powerline ethernet here. Just CAT6 via Cisco VPN router to ultraRendu/LPS-1 upstairs.

Sorry, I was not clear. There are two cables that are zip-tied together. One yellow, clearly ethernet, one black. Not referring to EOP. It'd be ironic to go to lengths to reduce line noise, only to take the one action that actively induces it.

.. and in the context of this thread, proper wire management would be the first step IMO.

Yellow is ethernet to primary access point while black is coaxial input to cable modem. CAT6 to upstairs is furthest to the right headed straight up through bookshelves to attic space above and into music room.

Nice, you'd be surprised just how often I've seen data cables tied to power cables. Both in friends installations, and in professional environments.. it drives me insane as it's so easy...
