Austin Record Convention: 10/26-28/07

I was there most of Fri ... and Sun morning ... bought half dozen CDs, a hand full of 45s and one LP ... most of the dealers I talked to ... said business was slow on Sat (which should be the best day for most of them) ... and over all they were disappointed.

Location, location, location. The move out north hasn't been well received, I'm afraid.

That may be part of it ... they also share a parking lot with a Mexican flea mkt ... which apparently sqeezed the parking on Sat ... I like the location coming from Dallas but I can see where the locals may not be crazy about it.

i tremble for my credit cards should i ever attend such a thing. i wanna go every year, and then i think about the drive to austin, and my heart sinks...

Yeah, the parking on Saturday was a nightmare...and no kidding about the Mexican flea market...it was an interesting mix for sure!

That said, I walked in with $100 and managed to stay at that limit...got a whole bunch of cool LPs and a couple of 45s for my trouble...almost bought an old (late 60s/early 70s) Fisher turntable/receiver combo with speakers from a vendor...it's the same system that got me into hifi, and I'd love to have it set up in the garage....
