I am new to tube amps. My current amplifier is a MP 301 mk3, it is a "self bias" amplifier. For me, this is a connivence, when rolling tubes, I don't need to use my meter.
But, is there a trade off when designing a circuit? Most things in life in general and electronics in particular involve trade offs when making basic design decisions. What are the pros and cons to a circuit that is self bias? When reviewing other tube amp manufacture sites, it seems that most require manual bias. Whats the truth?
