A pair is advertised in the Central NJ craigslist for $150, but the seller does not know how to determine the version: s1, s2, or s3. Any ideas where he can find this info.? Thanks.

They are labelled on the sticker on the back, no label (S1, S2, etc.) probably first series.

The speakers in the CL ad are definitely the original ("S1") DM601.

Took me a bit to figure this out with my 602s. Rule of thumb, if the seller doesn't know even though they give it some effort, they're probably S1. They're the only ones that don't have a notation on the back...

Yes,

Those are the DM601's, which was part of the first 600 serise back in 1996/7.

The second ''S2'' serise had the silver tweeter and the technology changed a bit.


Anyway, but they are very good sounding speakers. Very big sound.
