Wow! Beats by Dre really has a bunch of people popping blood vessels. It's a freaking headphone, no more no less. It's like I'm observing religious zealots argue with each other.

Nah...not yet. No one has called the Beats "crap" or the like, yet.

The Beats by Dre brand was created to enhance the sound of Hip Hop and Electronica music. They weren't designed, engineered and marketed to people that listen to classical, rock, country, jazz or any other genres. They were designed for Hip Hop and Electronica. Sheesh!

I highly doubt that is true since that would be admitting to these HPs stereotyping to only sounding good and catering for a certain genre of music. Most products are made to cater to a general audience, regardless if they are popular with certain groups/types.

For what it's worth the Beats by Dre headphones deliver a musical experience that reinforces how fans of Hip Hop and Electronica like to listen to their music. As a result it really doesn't matter what some guy listening to classical music on the most emotionless, neutral headphones has to say about the subject. It's apples and oranges.

Ah...you blew it. I don't care how many users on THIS forum listen to electronic music. Everyone here is the exception to the rule. I would wager that for every "audiophile" on this forum that listens to elecronic music there is a hundred thousand average listeners that love the Beats by Dre sound.

Get over yourself. Beats by Dre weren't intended for your ears. Can't you understand that? You reside on Audiokarma which makes you an audiophile of some sort. Isn't it painfully obvious that most, if not all self proclaimed audiophiles hate the Beats brand? The very essence of what defines the Beats by Dre headphones goes against EVERYTHING that audiophiles believe.

Depends on your definition of audiophile. Using my definition of audiophile I would say yes, the Beats by Dre brand, especially the Pros, are audiophile quality. Using the definition of audiophile that most self proclaimed audiophiles adhere to then no, the Beats by Dre brand is not audiophile quality.

To clarify, my definition of audiophile is:

A person that loves music and spends time trying to find the best way to reproduce it. Keep in mind that what sounds good to me won't necessarily sound good to you. As a result, this definition is purely subjective and cannot be scientifically measured.

Actually, I think you need to calm down. I'm being indifferent in this thread. That's why you never read "I hate the Beats" in any my few posts. I still don't agree with you trying to speak for "Dre" himself by proclaiming he set out to make a pair of headphones for people who listen to ONLY certain types of music.

As ADDA said: All that talk about genre specific gear is silly, there is no such thing.

The only brand I can think of that tried to cater to a specific group was FUBU (For Us, By Us) Wear clothes. Problem was....I saw plenty of scrawny caucasian people wear those clothes, so it didn't really work.

My definition of audiophile is:

This means that the headphones I choose to reproduce my favorite music will probably not be the same headphones you choose to reproduce your favorite music. Again, this passion we have for music is purely subjective. It's very personal and as unique as our own personalities. Having said that, rock on! (even if it's with Beats by Dre)

No. It's people like you that need to stop trolling. Who cares if some music nut loves the Beats Brand? I don't. In fact I really liked the Pros offering in the lineup and if it wasn't for the over engineered build quality I would still be enjoying them.

Stop trolling and just accept the fact that an awful lot of people like the Beats by Dre headphones. It doesn't make them right and it most definitely doesn't make them wrong. It just makes them someone that enjoys the quest for better sounding music, no matter how personally subjective that process may be.

90% of the time, it's from people that have no experience with them in the first place. "I'm going to participate in X Thread because I saw a shitty video review on YouTube so that makes me an expert now..."

Did you watch the video? Everything the person in the video speaks of goes against general audiophile wisdom...in other words, the video spreads misinformation. When you spread misinformation to market a product, its not marketing, its outright scamming. At least most other companies who are generally frowned upon on this forum lean more towards marketing and not scamming. Also, the video isnt about Beats Headphones, its strictly about their EQing they provide on phones and laptops

My grandpa says that there is a fine line between a subjective person and a rube. Sometimes too fine.
