i would never buy anything from beats...i dont understand how they can be so popular and yet sound so bad...i also thought it was funny how they said: "the end result, we think, is an incredible-sounding box," they think it sounds incredible? why dont they KNOW it sounds incredible...because it doesnt

I've listened to their products before and Im like "ok, its loud and boomy. am I suppossed to be impressed?"

It's somebody literally whipping it out on a first date....at the five-star resaurant...

My new HP all in one has Beats audio....the sound isn't too bad....but the most annoying thing is that the "B" button on the black keyboard is sporting a dark red beats logo instead of a white B.

Yes, to serious music lovers and listeners the Beats stuff is horrid. If you really want to wince try the earbuds. I for one, can't stand boomy bass for even one note. All that aside though, it's all about marketing with the Dr Dre Beats stuff. It's what the kids are into and that's what sells. (Dr Dre is a master marketer) Let's face it, the kids market is the biggest market and we, the Music Lovers market is the smallest. Yes, sad, but true. In my opinion the kids (and I include those of college age), don't listen to music seriously so they don't care about overall sound quality, Just as long as it goes boom boom is what matters to them. That and loudness. It's really too bad too that there is virtually no appreciation of music in that and future generations. It's not taught in schools anymore either. I'm of the opinion though that school taught music appreciation courses were always inferior to learning on one's own or with the guidance of a music lover who has a few hash marks on his/her belt. None the less, we can blame the industry and media in part at least for lowering standards of music to such a point that it's almost void of life. Thankfully a few artists come along once in a blue moon and offer up something truly fabulous, but the kids barely pay much attention to those type of artists. Thank goodness its not the only stuff on the market and we aren't forced to buy it or use it, now that would be nightmarish and the death of us all.

I remember recently a radio personality on a morning show that DJs on weekends was saying, my old bose stereo headphones sound better the the Beats by Dre.

Not to bash on those headphones but I cant really see the price. I recall only paying 1xx dollars for those Bose.

Radio personalities comment.

I thought it quite funny

At least SOMEONE is publicly acknowledging that sound quality exists and is something to be concerned about. For that, at least, Dre should be commended.

I remember trying out one of the beats headphones at a local Best Buy two years ago(I wouldn't normally go there, was running errands with my dad), it certainly wasn't as bad as I was expecting but it couldn't compete with the $50 AKGs I had on me. I listened to the Beats HD or something, I can't recall the price but it wasn't the top model.

And what is with the name of these speakers: the pill? Makes me give off a sigh of disgust for my generation. :thumbsdn:

well, in it's defense its probably better than the other common alternative: a smartphone turned all the way up so that it distorts.

I've never tried a Dr dre product so I can't speak for or against their sound.

I do own a "Big Jambox" it does what it's asked to do, play tunes when I walk across the street to our beach and it has a long battery life.

I wish it cost less but the way I throw money at my system and vinyl I really have no room to bitch.

 hype and marketing. Well, If they're expensive, they must be good! Kind of like a specific fruity company...;) If it's what advertisers are pushing, then it's what the kinds want..doesn't matter if it technically sounds like garbage or not. Little Johnny has a pair..I want some too! AND the pill!!

or busts the speaker...my soon-to-be sister in law (barely 16) has done that on her brand new phone inside of a week. and she goes through (cheap) earbuds like toilet paper..

I've never tried the Dr. Dre products but was shocked to find out that Dr. Dre personally made over 100 million from those products in 2011 and is on track to double that this year.

It's kind of funny really. Three years ago my buddy was giving me crap over spending $50 on a pair of headphones. Over the past three years he's gone through something like 10 or 15 pairs of $10-20 earbuds while I'm still using the same $50 AKGs. Beyond a few chips in the paint from me throwing them across the room in my sleep they look just like new. :scratch2:

I really don't get why marketing is so effective, when I see a product advertised as much as Apple stuff or Beats my first reaction is "they're spending their R&D money on advertising instead of the product itself, stay away". Good products speak for themselves, just look at Stax, Grado, and the many other good audio companies who have made a name for themselves with little to no advertising at all.

:scratch2: indeed...my Sennheiser HD280s ($100) are still rockin along..and even if something does go, some of the parts are user replaceable :thmbsp:
