My new HP all in one has Beats audio....the sound isn't too bad....but the most annoying thing is that the "B" button on the black keyboard is sporting a dark red beats logo instead of a white B.
At least SOMEONE is publicly acknowledging that sound quality exists and is something to be concerned about. For that, at least, Dre should be commended.
It's kind of funny really. Three years ago my buddy was giving me crap over spending $50 on a pair of headphones. Over the past three years he's gone through something like 10 or 15 pairs of $10-20 earbuds while I'm still using the same $50 AKGs. Beyond a few chips in the paint from me throwing them across the room in my sleep they look just like new. :scratch2:
I really don't get why marketing is so effective, when I see a product advertised as much as Apple stuff or Beats my first reaction is "they're spending their R&D money on advertising instead of the product itself, stay away". Good products speak for themselves, just look at Stax, Grado, and the many other good audio companies who have made a name for themselves with little to no advertising at all.
I must be lucky because I can't recall seeing all that much advertising for Beats stuff.
Also, Apple makes some fine products. Sure, they advertise, but I bet they've spent a few dollars on R&D, too.
I wonder how much of the hate for his products is because of his style of music. If Jimmy Page released some over priced headphones would the reaction here be different?:scratch2:
possible...can't say I don't get the Led out every so often...but few genres revolve around booming (read "overly bassy") music like hip-hop/rap and DJ club music...all I hear on the radio anymore is poppy club music...which is why I quit listening to radio :sigh:
I was referring to how it is pretty common for music like Dre's to be brought up here, and for it to be called "music", or with a (c) in front of it, like this (c)rap. Just wondering how much this attitude of musical superiority has to do with the quick dismissal of his products.
I'm seeing cars now with Dr. Dre as an option...
Yikes....
I agree.
My kids now want something more than Apple ear buds. I'd like to hear the Dre car system in the new Chrysler 300, too.
If some folks want to feel smug with "bargain" cans, go right ahead, but I've got no problem with Dr. Dre making a good-looking, bass-heavy audio product that folks want to purchase. If you are happy with your own cans, why do you care if others dig Beats?
maybe it's a suppository...

(Dr Dre is a master marketer) .... Yes, sad, but true. In my opinion the kids (and I include those of college age), don't listen to music seriously so they don't care about overall sound quality, Just as long as it goes boom boom is what matters to them.
Beats is relevant to C-Rap fans. And the techno fans.
