Beginings of a new vintage system!

This is just the begining of a system that started allmost 50 year ago with my best friends older brother. Around 1975 he came home with this system that we all came to live and enjoy for many years. I vowed then that one day I would put together the exact same system one day. No idea it would take this long. Two years ago after my third back/neck surgery I decided that the time had come to honor a promise I had made to my best friend all those years ago and build the system. So just a week ago after two years of looking I found a local guy that was willing to sell my his JBL L-100 Century speakers at a price I could afford. Thanks Joe. Great speakers. So now the hunt go on for a Marantz reciever and Marantz turnable. On the turnable the 6300 is the guy. The reciever the 2270 would be great as these are the ones that the brother had. Bit if I can not find or afford them I may settle for a lesser model for now and work up. So any thoughts or ideas on this system?

Dream system then and now really. Be patient and you will find those but they probably won't be cheap unless you get really lucky and it does happen so be on the look out.

Look out for a 2245 or 2275 as well, the list is endless...

Wolfman you need to put some pics of that badass system up! Welcome to AK Brother there is some really good music around here!:rflmao::music::rockon::thumbsup:

First, sorry about the typos in my post. It happens. As for the pictures I will do that as soon as I finish with the restro on the speakers. I paid just $350 bucks for them. They did not have the correct grill fronts. I have ordered them the correct burnt orange quadrex grills. They are scheduled for delivery on October 20th. Also I was missing one JBL badge. It will be delivered by the end of the week. So when I have them complete I will post pictures of them. But until then I will post a picture of them without grills. They are all original and have not been touched.

Thats so cool to build up a vintage system. I've done the same thing myself. Sometime soon I am wanting to build a duplicate of my brother's first system. Gotta get my vinyl playback where I want it first.
It's always so rewarding to see them come together. Keep us posted on the progress.

Congrats, and welcome.

Well guys and gals. Progress has been made this week. Instead of buying a receiver like I first said mentioned. The 22xx, I have decided to go with seperates as I found that pricing is better that way. Who would have thunk it. Everyone puts such a value on the big receivers that it began to make sense to go with an amp and turner from different sellers. Both are on there way. I will have more info for you when they arrive and will have pictures. Just a thought for you guys looking to put together systems. Seperates in this buying market may be a way to go if your looking to put a system together. For me, looks like I am going to spend something like $275 for Marantz amp and turner. Amp will be the 1090 and turner the 110. If it all works out as I hope it does. More to come on this.

A bit off subject for this area but can someone tell me how to put a picture next to my name here in the forum? I can't seem to figure it out. Thanks.

Ok. Update guys. My 110 turner has arrived and what a great deal on it. Looks like it working fine from what I can tell. When I tune FM or AM the signal meter come up nice. As I have no way to go any further yet without the 1090 I am going to say I like it. Lights all come one. Its all original too. Cosmetically for being close to 50 years old it looks great. Picture included here shows. Not dings, no cracks. The dial is very smooth and works nice. All buttons work crisp and with a nice snap. More to come on this when the rest if my equipment come in this week.

Go to the top right hand side of the page and you'll see your name "Wolfman181". If you place your cursor over it, a drop down menu should appear. Click on "Avatar" and a small screen should pop up where you can select a custom avatar from most pictures saved on your computer.

If a drop down menu doesn't appear, then click on your name and a whole page should appear where you can select your avatar (among other things) by clicking on your current avatar. A small pop up screen will appear and you can create your custom "Atomic Rooster" avatar in the same way I described above.
