belts?

Do you still have the originals, or all of the pieces?

Fred at marrscommunications will typically be able to come up with a kit if you give him some info on cross-section (round/square/flat), and dimensions (width/length). Also if you send him the originals he can match them up no problem.

Keep us posted on what you find out; I have an ELC and an ELC-II here that could both use a new set of belts.

all the belts look fine except for the main drive belt. it's stretched out and slips on the flywheel. i'm thinking of using a big rubber band to try a temp. fix and see if it still plays before i sink money into it. the unit it's self looks in excellent condition.

Sounds like the ELC-II I have here. Plays but the main belt is definitely stretched.

just got a catalog from the maint. man where i work. it's from mcm electronics. it has belts for almost anything. it even has a guide to size your belts so you get the right ones. web site is MCMelectronics.com. i think i'll try there. now how do i get the old belt off? i have the deck all taken apart. but i haven't taken the tape transport apart yet. is there a easy way? it looks like i need to really tear it apart to get the belt out. thanks!

ok, got all the belts replaced finally! unit plays slow! where is the speed adjustment? everything else is working perfect. thanks.

Look on the back of the capstan motor. If the case has a hole in it, insert a small flat blade screwdriver through the hole, being careful not to touch the metal case withe the screwdriver, and adjust the pot inside. To do this right, you need a 3.15KHz speed adjustment tape and a frequency counter.

Sweet, nice setup.

Can you post back with the details on what you used for belts & where you picked them up? Friend of mine bought the ELC-II I had and will probably be looking to replace the belts in it soon.

Ok, i used MCM Electronics. the drive belt is 9.75 X 0.02 and i used a vcr belt replacement kit and just sized them up by eye and took off a little for stretch.
Cost me about $45 for everything.

Thanks, I appreciate that...

Also I would MUCH rather deal with MCM (or another reputable online seller like Marrscommunications) than www.kenselectronics.com, that guy is a little difficult to do business with.
