Beogram 5000

I have just bought a Beogram 5000.
Pick up arm for 12"" needs it's drop point adjusting, needs to come in about 1-2 mm to pick up the run in groove. Ok with 7".
Service manual not much help, it tells me which screw to turn, just not how to find it. Have removed the platter and lifted the plastic cover but nothing visible from the top, must have to access from the bottom.
Never been this difficult with other turntables!
Any guidance gratefully received.

I hate to say that I don't know anything about adjusting the drop point, since I'm just beginning to look at a problem with my Beogram 5000, but I'm hoping you can help me with something. How do you get the aluminum top plate off of the turntable? I have a fast clicking when the turntable plays. I understand it may have something to do with the motor mounts.

The fast ticking is the motor itself.

There is a magnetic ring for the FG servo just above the commutator and when the plastic ring that holds it in place gets old, it can crack and part of it can break off - the loose end gets mixed up with the brushes and makes a noise. Normally just removing the offending loose piece is all you have to do, the ring seems to stay in place by itself.

To do this you have to remove the bottom of the motor, unsolder the PCB and then take off the brush plate. It is much easier to put it back together if you take the pulley off first, then you can insert the rotor into the brush plate before sliding the complete assembly into the stator. Be sure not to lose any of the spacers and washers on the motor shaft, their positions are important. A tiny spot of oil on the two bearings is also a good idea while it is in pieces.

Finally, remember to mark the angular relationship of the brush plate and the stator with a marker pen or similar, or the motor may run backwards once you have put it all back together and you’ll have to do it all again!
