Seriously, you could do a lot worse than a roll of 14 gauge clear jacket that you can buy almost anywhere - $15 for 50 feet. With only a ten foot run, anything halfway decent will do a good job inexpensively. Virtually the same thing as Monster Cable Original at about 1/3 the price.

If you wanted some serious entry-level audiophile cable, AudioQuest Type 4 is a favorite of a lot of folks - me included.

I used line cord for years and never had cause to regret it. These days, I use Monster, but only because I got a load dirt cheap at a yard sale.

I went to a Tru Value Hardware and bought 16 ga. off a bulk spool. Copper, good insulation, great for short to medium distance. Best of all, it was very inexpensive. I have also purchased long extension cords (2-wire, zip cord) and clipped the ends.

I agree with those above who buy the lamp cord off of the spool at the hardware store. It sounds as good as anything expensive and if usually easier to strip and solder. I also attach my own banana lugs and add colored shrink tube for reinforcement. I do also use all sorts of exotic cables that I have gotten free with stuff I buy at yard sales. It does not sound different but it often has fancier insulation that feels slinkier or looks cooler. That is the only difference though.

Belden 5000 or Canare 4S11 - basically what the bluejeans cable use. some say they're not good, but i've used them in most of my systems. and compared to $400 speaker cable in one system i have, they're not much different.

Pyle copper 12 gauge from Walmart (online ordering) 50 feet $14. I bought 2 rolls with about $4 shipping. I like it.

Lamp cord at the thrift can be a really good deal sometimes. Anything with two insultated wires where one is designated so as to make it easy to establish ground is a great deal!

I agree

I used the Canare 4s11 wire for my speakers and I love how they sound through them. Quite nice looking to if done right.

Home Depot sells 12awg insulated wire for about the price as lamp cord. I have used hundreds of feet of it for my surround system and other installations. I love it! I keep a 500' roll of it at the house at all times, for audio and electrical purposes.

Check out garage sales, flea markets, thrift shops, etc... and DON'T pay too much. Eventually you'll find some better-than-average cables for peanuts. I'm using some fancy Japanese-made six-nines-OFC-plus-silver cables I bought for, well, peanuts. They seem to work a little better than the 10/12 gauge zip/lamp cord type stuff I used to use.

At normal lengths, speaker cables have probably the least impact on sound (other than perhaps power cables); interconnects are more important. Connectors can matter, though; bare wire connections are usually best, but you have to be careful to create good connections and not have any shorts.
