Best japanese Speakers?

Do you still have your Diatone 2S-305's? I have a chance to get a pair from HiFiDo and was wondering if they really are as good as they are. How is the base? are the highs shrill with some music?

I'm aware of the 2S-305 and you have to consider that it is a 2-way with a 12" woofer and 1.5KHz crossover frequency on the tweeter, so dispersion will not be uniform at all. So sound quality probably will be very different depending on the position of the listener and on how anechoic is the listening room.

That being said, i would die for one.

Personally i have had a few japanese speakers, and very happy with them: Technics SB-1000 (that was the TOTL), Yamaha NS-690II, 670, 500. I've listened to many more too.

My current room speakers set are a frankestein made with Coral woofers, Fostex midranges and Diatone tweeters, so all-japanese, too.

Thanks for the reply. I am currently in Japan and can get the 2s-305’s for a very good price in both excellent working and cosmetic condition. However my room is definitely not optimal and it won’t be for another year or two. So, i wanted to get them while still available and then move them to the new place when ready. They are big and super heavy so transporting them is not easy, specially not having a vehicle here.
I’m used to Altec Lansing Onkens which is kind of like a Model 19 but with better sound and crossovers and am very happy with them, but they are in my storage back in the states and shipping them here is way too expensive

Hello everybody,

I'm having an opportunity to get some vintage speakers from Japan. I bet the best thing will be to look for those, made by japanese manufacturers...
I know Japan was pretty good at making amps, now what about speakers?

Which of japanese older speakers you can name the best?
Sansui, Technics, and Yamaha

Are you using Japanese made speakers, at the moment?

Thanks!

Not right now. I use a pair of Klipsch R-15M bookshelf speakers and Yamaha NS-SW100 Subwoofer at the moment. Thank you for asking.

Well aware of hardoff and have been to many times and ordered from them on multiple occasions too. Most come with a few months of warranty.
Are you currently in Japan? Do you know any Technicians that work on Tube/Solid state equipment?
Thank you.
