Best Looking Receiver of all Time

Since no-one mentioned this one, and based on face alone, this little guy (or better yet, one of his bigger siblings (sadly, I don't own either of them)!) would definitely be in the running, too:

From where I'm sitting right now, by swivelling my head a littlle I can see several of the models mentioned already in this thread: Pioneer SX-1250 (and 1050), Sansui 9090, Marantz 2285B, 2275 and 2265, and a few others. Trying to decide iwhich is the BEST looking is just going to give me nexk strain... and that is ignoring the Luxman 1050 and Sony STR-V6 and the H/K in the other room, the huge Fisher I saw today, the big Sansui G series I'm still hunting for, and probably several more I haven't thought of or perhaps haven't even seen yet. :headscrat 
While I would definitely say some receivers are better-looking than others, trying to pick the best from the good ones is like trying to choose which of your children you love most - at least for me, it just can't be done!

I think the Marantz 2275 is exquisitely designed. The symmetry is pleasing to the eye, and there aren't too many buttons. B&O has some really nicely designed products, but a bit more modern (no matter what decade they were made in). I'm not a very big fan of switches, but that's just me.

I really love the looks of my Marantz 2270. :yes: Especially the wood case.
Have never seen another one with an aluminum colored grill.
Sanded the case, restained it and gave it about 8 hand rubbed coats of Minwax antique satin oil, since this pic was taken. It gives it a nice shine that is not real glossy.

Great looking bunch of hardware out there all right. Neat thing about high-end audio gear is that the stuff needs to perform alright but must also be able to just sit there and look good. No matter what the haircolour it's pretty hard to argue that they don't all have some admirable qualities.
I'm glad to see that the Pioneer SX-xx50 series was mentioned a few times. Njord's 1250 looks great. Snade's 2330b also. First time I've ever heard of Optonica - nice design with extra effort on the knobs of all things!
I think the H/K Citation design is great what with the top view faceplate - different and imaginative. The big black Sansui's - the 890/990 are always cool.
One of my favorite new receivers as a result of this thread is probably Mark B's Yamaha CR-3020. Sharp and clean face design - To kick this thread off I suggested that we look at faceplates only but the 4 vents on that beautiful case are a fine combination of engineering and art.
I'm gonna throw my Pioneer QX-949A quad receiver into the mix. The dark dialglass speaks of a slightly earlier era but the whole package has a kind of brawny elegance which I liked from the moment I saw it.

Big, silver, walnut. I love the looks of the Technics SA-X00 line. Those Marantz B models come real close.
I'm still enamored with the Sony STR-6200F and the Marantz 4300. Both have a classy look to them that I love. They have balance and clean lines and are more "adult" than many of the later receivers.
I will grant that the CR-3020 is certainly impressive and the 990DB is gorgeous. The Mac receivers err in those slider switches on the front. They look and feel cheap to me.
