I will add another vote for the Pioneer SX-1250. I feel the lack of the tiny power meters improves the looks and the soft white lighting is a big plus.

I like the look of my superscope R1220. turns out there is a black color varient under the name R1270 and they are the exact same receiver only with a different color faceplate and model number.

Thought I would nominate the Kenwood KR-9060. This is the bronze faced Europeon multi-voltage version of the KR-9600. I personally find this to be one of the most hansome of the receiver wars of the 70s.

I have to agree. Old school design with a dash of technology. I just recently picked up a SX-3700 and have been putting it through its paces.

Nice... I like my SX3600 as well...but your 3700 is a step ahead in the "Coolness" factor... like you said "old school with the right dash of technology"

Ditto for the 3700. But wish I had the 3800. I beleive it had the best specs for phono of any receiver.

That's a classy looking Kenwood alright - The Bronze-colored anodized face is a real nice touch. I've never owned anything from the Kenwood brand but one of their bigger receivers is on my list!

Yes I agree the Sta 2100 looks great (I own one as well) Does not have the pedigree name but sound wise it sure does. Check out the guts of one if you think the exterior looks Pioneerish:yes: Radio Shack got into some near legal hot water back then seemed Pioneer was not fattered by RS attention to Pioneer detail

Realistic's STA-2100 is a fine receiver. Great mainstream looks with a creditable higher end specification.

This thread has provided some great ideas on new additions to my receiver collection. The STA-2100 is a perfect example of a shining underdog and I'd love to find one in great shape - I would pick up on this model right now.

I'm running an under-appreciated unit now. A Sanyo JCX-2600K that seems to be performing as well now as they day we bought it. Nothing burned out, no crackling controls - no service ever. A sure keeper.

I appreciate everyone's contribution, input and opinion on this subject. Great Stuff!

I'm a bit partial to my SX-939. Real cool with the blue face, red tuning indicator & green function lights. The blue glow of my JVC dvd/cd helps too.
