Best Looking Receiver of all Time

Oh, and I also forgot the Setton RS-660. I have very eclectic tastes. lol ;)

Eclectic tastes or not, the Setton has been discussed various times. I believe that most would appreciate its beefiness and simultaneous elegance.

The Setton and the Sony are both beautiful receivers. Classy looking.

Not to offend the 9090 owners, but I could never sign off on the 9090 as one of the most beautiful receivers of all time. It seems a bit of a mismash with its blue tuning meters and white faced power meters. I don't get it, but I do understand that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. After perusing this thread a bit more, I will say the Euro version (black face) 9090 looks pretty damn good.

You know what would be cool? If we could somehow narrow it down to say, four receivers, and then have a poll. It would be interesting to hear, in a vote, what does AK truly think is the most beautiful receiver of all time.

Or......we create poll thread where we start lumping receivers together in groups of four or five, (there's a limit on possible poll answers, but I forget what it is) and basically have a shootout, the winner of each poll moves on to the next round. Or something to that effect.

HK stuff seems to age incredibly gracefully. The 330c/430/730/930 range in particular has a subdued look that oozes quality. The stuff a little later (385i, 395i, 690i) has a completely different approach to timelessness-- it's minimalistic in an Ikea furniture sort of way.

On the complete opposite end, those assymmetric JVC JR-S units. They have *everything* -- four meters, big analogue tuning scale, equalizer, and that slide volume control. I want those to remain unpopular until I can acquire one though. :)

-its not a giant when it comes to power, but i have always loved the simplicity and elegance of the Pioneer SX-780.

HK Citation receiver, B&O Beomaster 8000, Pioneer SX1250, and Yamaha CR-2040.

Favorite that I own is a Marantz 2238 with wood case.
