Ran a 2045 in my living room for ten years. Visitors walked up to it and kept asking what art museum it was from. Understated. Soft to the eye and ear. Dependable as hell. At one point I ran it 24/7 for 5 years.fixed that for ya...

This was before I knew about the Sony 7065.
OK, maybe not the best of all time, but this series of Kenwood's (KR-x600) had some cool details. Great font, great color, the beveled side panels - but it's the way the frame of the display wraps around the tuner knob that gets me every time. Such cool lines!
This is a beauty in the welterweight class, the 30 WPC KR-4600. Recent Goodwill score, a near miracle at $13 in very good condition. I really like the low-slung proportions of the small-to-medium sized receivers - like a chopped hot rod. They also have just the right amount of knobs and switches - Enough to keep it interesting, but not too busy. These are classy as hell.

Funny how important the font is for me as well. I agree that this one Kenwood used here looks very pleasing to my eye. For me also, the font used by Marantz on the 20XX, 22XX and others is a big factor in how much I love how they look.
It’s odd and I haven’t reviewed every post, but where are the Luxman’s? Basic R-1040 is a one of many examples and they most all look outstanding.

Nice. Got one of those too, what a monster! This thing is a brute and sounds phenomenal on the HPM 100s. But yeah, love the look. Did they ever make a better quality wood cover than that 1970ish beauty?

Nice! I've got the R-1120 that needs to go back on the repair bench to test and see if I fixed that amp now. I've put this project aside for a few months. Will reply back soon when and if I got good news. It will be the second time I've fixed the amp. Think I was a victim of inferior China parts first go around.

Good luck on a "winner", with subjective being the key word.

Hey there - I know this is an old thread/comment but I just picked up a Philips 7851 yesterday. Looks like it could use a new light bulb and I really like the looks of yours. I opened it up to clean yesterday but it was not obvious to me where the bulbs are. Do you recall where they are located? Thanks

Did you get it figured out? If I remember correctly they are on a circuit board right behind the dial. Mine is currently in storage and ill be damned if I can find a picture online of the inside. If you posted some pics it would jog my memory.

I have an older Magnavox model that uses fuse type bulbs that are located on the backside of what's pictured. They're easy to replace, but getting to them was a bit of a struggle. It looks like the 7851 might be a little easier to get to and you can get the fuse style LEDS in white, green, or blue on Amazon.

The lights in the 7851 are socket style. I used led's and resistors. Pretty much made my own. If I remember correctly I put in a main diode bridge and resistor for the whole board instead of each individual light.
