Best price for new cans- Grado 225's

Hey all,

Where can I get the best price for a new set of Grado 225's? I only want a new pair, not used

I have the Sr 80's and want to upgrade....What can I expect to spend on a pair of the 225's??

From my listening, the best cans from grado for the price is the re2. The sr225 is very very close to it. I prefer it greatly over the 325. You can find a 225 for about 150 bucks . A little more if you want the newer 225i.

Google search on "Grado SR225" turned up $200 as the best new price.

I jumped right to the 225i for my first Grado and debated getting the 325i. Lately I've been looking at the RS2i, but if it's pretty close (as you and others have said) I probably won't spend the extra cash.

I'd say a new 225i would run around $200 as well afaik.

the rs2 is an amazing can though. there is a smoothness and lack of edge to the upper register that none of the lower grados have. If I could swing it, I would have them. I guess something can be said for the wood.

I have seen many people make wood cups for the lower numbered grados. I've always wondered what that would be like. sure would be more cost effective if your good with woodworking.. all that said, the 225's kick ass. I have 125s myself because I got them for a steal, but man.. I just keep looking up the line.....

That seems to be what I heard too, lack of grain/edge in the higher Grados compared to the lower/mid tier ones. Might be due to the wood.

I probably would do so if I was a diy'er. Then again, I'm satisfied with the 225i's as is. I suppose one could order wood cups from some maker online.

Yea, lol me too. But I'm also satisfied with what I've got...for now anyway. I only listen to cans (or IEM's) about 70 to 80% of the time anyway so...

Btw, you know if you sold your 125's back you'd be about halfway to the 225's...just a thought.

I got mine fore 170 USD at the Audiolab in Cambridge mass. They were the show room models they were only in the store for 2 weeks and no one had tried them yet according to the salesman (whom I believe to be a reputable trustworthy guy, he's been working that store for like 30 years). He sold them to me for 170 and gave me new pads, it was a good deal.

If you want new 200 is the goind price these days.
